Three girls described by a haredi eyewitness as being “modestly dressed” were attacked by a group of Sicarii, the haredi street-gang-cum-mafia which often acts as “modesty police.”
On Saturday night the girls were walking on Beit Yisrael Street in Jerusalem when Yeshiva World reports the Sicarii suddenly appeared and began harassing and yelling at the girls, calling them “shiktza” and spitting on them.
Soon after the incident, male family members of the girls located the Sicarii involved and, according to the report, “hundreds” gathered and a “brawl” ensued.
Community leaders interceded and managed to negotiate calm.
Police apparently were not called.
