Happy Birthday Rubashkin

Today is Sholom Rubashkin's 52nd birthday.

 

Rubashkin, the former VP of Agriprocessors, once the largest kosher meatpacker in the world, is currently serving a 27- year prison sentence for bank fraud, related charges and perjury.

He lost his appeal and, unless the appellate court agrees to hear the case en banc, he is expected to appeal to the US Supreme Court within a few weeks.

Wishing somebody a birthday mazel itself is worth the post. I am not going to argue if or if not he deserves what he got, its sad in the religious Jewish world to be in prison.Him sitting in a jail hasn't helped other criminals or future prisoners, its like a lesson we as Americans need to learn. When Rubashkin's supporters lied about me, saying I had lived in Rubashkin's basement and relied on his charity, none of Rubashkin's family or members of his his pidyon shvuyim fund who knew with absolute certainty these allegations were false did anything to correct the lies repeated in Rubashkin's name.

And none of Rubashkin's supporters – like you, for example – said a word about that.

Instead, they kept repeating the lies.

Flash forward to today.

He did wrong and received an excessively long sentence due in part to his legal team and his attitude.

This may be rectified, and his sentence modified.

When I read that post, I had a feeling it was prompted by a fund raising appeal. If website owners posted birthday announcements for anyone and everyone, meaningful posts would get buried in the clutter.

It just shows the role of PR agents in keeping someone's name in front of the public. I caught on to this about 10 years ago while listening to Bavarian Radio. The DJ was telling some gossip about Britney Spears. Why this was news in Germany was a mystery to me. I later realized they just wanted to get Britney's name out there to sell records.

About the multiple signatures thing, I had trouble myself with that site. It's typical government mess. I must have pissed off the site because it won't let me login with a diff email so they are checking the IP address. Whether or not you can fool it with a proxy address or some other method would not surprise me if they can, But I gave up on that site. But yes you should be able to login with a new email and new ip. Probably someone paid for people to get new providers so that is another way. I think they extended this contest because it was felt that people didn't know about that. It's important at the least that he is not number 1, so please vote for the one ahead of him if you agree with it's point.

As usual, Shmuley Boteach is lying.

If you use the federal government's sentencing calculator for one count of financial fraud worth $26 million with a conspiracy enhancement you get a sentence of 22 to 30 years.

That's for one count.

Rubashhkin was convicted on 86 counts including conspiracy, along with a perjury enhancement of 2 years.

On top of that, there are many criminals serving similar sentences for similar crimes.

You can lie, Rubashkin's defense fund and attorneys can lie, Boteach can lie.

But that doesn't change the truth.

1-Bernie Ebbers...convicted of fraud and conspiracy as a result of WorldCom's false financial reporting, and subsequent loss of US$100-billion to investors. BILLIONS, not a mere 27 million. Gets 2 years less than SMR

2-The "enzyte guy" Steve Warshak...a 112-count criminal indictment. n charges of conspiracy, money laundering; and mail, wire and bank fraud. The indictment alleged that the company defrauded consumers and banks of US$100 million.found guilty of 93 counts of conspiracy, fraud and money laundering. On August 27, 2008 he was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Arthur Spiegel to 25 years in prison and ordered to pay $93,000 in fines.

He stole 100 million, got 25 years. 2 years less than SMR

3-Sam Israel III..bilked investors out of 300 million, faked his death, sentenced to 20 years, since he ailed to report to Devens prison June 9, 2008. As a consequence, he was further sentenced on July 15, 2009, to an additional two years in prison for faking his own suicide, bringing his total sentence to 22 years.
300 MILLION. 5 years less than SMR.

4-Jeffrey Keith "Jeff" Skilling.Former president of A LITTLE KNOWN COMPANY NAMED Enron Corporation

Guilty on one count of conspiracy
# guilty on one count of insider trading
# guilty on five counts of making false statements to auditors
# guilty on twelve counts of securities fraud
Sentenced to 24 years and four months in prison, and fined $45 million.
How much did this little known case cost?

Just a few billion. He gets 3 years less than SMR.

He was caught in 1999, and in 2004 was sentenced to 200 months in prison based on over $200 million in proven losses to insurance companies he bought then looted; the sentence was reaffirmed in 2006.
Losses: 200 million. 200 months= 16.67years.

As for what you heard from the family, I imagine you mean the Rubashkin family.

How they could know what I have "vowed" is an interesting question, since I haven't spoken to any of them in seven years. (I did try to speak with Sholom about PETA in 2004, but he refused.)

I've never threatened or vowed to bring down Chabad or the Rubashkins.

Further, the Rubashkin family has a long DOCUMENTED track record of fraud, stealing and illegal business practices.

If you were a little brighter – say on the level of an animate object – you'd know that people like that lose their hezkat kashrut, and you are forbidden to take anything they say at face value.

But you're dumb as a tree stump and no particularly honest yourself, so you don't know the facts or the halakha, and you don't care.
