Probe hits jail rabbi’s landlord

Investigators scrutinizing former Correction Department chaplain Leib Glanz have subpoenaed records from the giant United Talmudical Academy, Glanz’s landlord during a 15-year period where he’s accused of stealing more than $200,000 in federal rent subsidies, The Post has learned.

The subpoena demanded a list of all tenants living in the school’s faculty housing, sources said.

UTA is a substantial enterprise, the main school system for the Satmar Hasidic community, with 8,000 students in 17 buildings and an annual budget of $35 million.

It also operates tax-exempt housing units that are supposed to be reserved for students, faculty and rabbis.

Glanz took up residence in the UTA property at 85 Ross St. in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.

He is charged with using federal Section 8 vouchers obtained under the name of his brother, Menashe, to pay the rent.

The vouchers are reserved for the poor and have strict income caps.

Both Glanzes were once employed by UTA. But they no longer are, raising questions about why Leib Glanz wasn’t booted from the apartment after he was off the UTA payroll.

The UTA subpoena could be broadened to encompass a wider probe of the school and its housing practices by the city’s Department of Investigation, the sources said.

UTA’s lawyer declined comment, as did DOI spokeswoman Diane Struzzi.

your question implies that the only reason you want to be moral is god. is this true? its pretty sad if the only reason you dont rob, rape, defraud or otherwise harm others is because of fear of being punished.
i try to be moral because its right to do so. i feel good when i help others knowing that i did it truly "li'shma". i know theres no reward other than the good feeling it brings me, and the increased happiness of the recipient. i take pleasure in knowing that my kids learned to be honest and moral independent of fear of punishment and the promise of rewards from an imaginary eye-in-the-sky. humans evolved with hard wiring towards moral and cooperative behavior and societal views on morality are always evolving as well.
and you clearly have no understanding of the term 'survival of the fittest'. try to open a book for once which wasnt written in hebrew or aramaic by an ignorant author hundreds of years ago.

Are the accusations here true of false? If the accusations are true, how is this like Germany? Criminals always rationalize why the laws do not apply to them. These accusations have nothing to do with circumventing them because of prohibiting religious practice.

Jews should always obey the laws of the country residence, so nobody cant accuse them or wrongdoing.
