An investigative look at the allegedly illegal and unconstitutional behavior of the leadership of Kiryas Joel, a Satmar village north of New York City.

I've posted this 60 Minutes report before, but since Kiryas Joel is back in the news for the same allegedly illegal behavior, here's another look:

You say they are back in the news but there are no details. What have they done this time?

While I have little love for Kiryas Joel, today must be a slow news day for Shmarya to rerun a 17-year-old story.

So here's a news flash for all of you. "Rabbi" Yehuda Levin, who infamously claimed that Leiby Kretzky was murdered because of God's displeasure over gay marriage being made legal in NY, now claims the 5.8 magnitude earthquake which hit the east coast yesterday, was also the result of gay marriage being made legal in NY.

One minor detail: The epicenter of the quake was in Virginia, where gay marriage is not legal.

Another minor detail: There was insignificant damage. So I guess Hashem wasn't all that displeased after all.

Didn't know that satmar is a religion untill I saw this video. That same dude that claimed that the autid was superb also claims that satmar is a religion. Perhaps im confused by this idiot too

Since most lack a basic education, I assume 98% are still in the fold, following their leader's advice. Without an education, most are not working. East Ramapo still spends 97,000.00 per student to educate their special needs kids. This was also commented about in the video and has continued since the video was first aired. The 97k goes to their own vendors and this has also been going on since the video. What a sweet deal they still have after all these years! Big brother takes care of all their needs from womb to tomb.

The best "payback" would be to give these folks the tourist treatment and turn them into a circus sideshow. You know how they have all of the tours to Amish country where they unload busloads of gawking tourists? Do the same here, and then sell loads of tacky, ugly souvenirs, perhaps featuring pictures of the rebbe (maybe on bottle openers or T-shirts), dolls with payess, etc. That is pretty much what the Czechs did to the communists in their country, and now nobody wants to be considered "quaint" or "primitive." If the land is public, they cannot restrict access to members of the public. If they do, the ACLU will get involved and then let's see if the politicians support KJ or any other circus sideshow. Besides, my guess is that these nut jobs are so greedy, they'll be the ones selling the T-shirts, etc. after the tourists hit town.

They can make what they want - even chimps use tools, but they seemingly cannot figure out why they are supposed to follow the rule that religion and state are separate - something that most 8th graders can tell you.
