Video: Haredim Attack Bookstore
Ohr HaChaim, a Mea Shearim bookstore that is clean, modern looking and well run, and as a result attracts tourists, is the target of haredi street thugs known as the Sicarii, has been hit with a series of their vandalism attacks. Why? The Sicarii view tourists are a 'corrupting' influence on Mea Shearim.
Here's security cam footage of a haredi man breaking the front door window of the bookstore. The video runs 2:00 minutes, and the actual act of vandalism is near the end.
And here's a link to the a Kikar Shabbat video of the aftermath of an earlier episode in December along with a story on the vandalism in Hebrew. $400,000 in Judaica and books were stolen from the store late last year, as well.
The Sicarii told Kikar Shabbat their reason for attacking the bookstore goes beyond modesty issues – Ohr HaChaim, they say, sells Zionist publications.

This is being orchestrated by Toldot Aaron.
They need to be more radical nowadays so that they don't lose leadership of the Chasidic world to Ger.
(I.e in the Chasidic world who ever is more radical wins leadership. This is why Vizniz has been down and out for many years.
But Ger made great gains by its beating up people it thought were not zniut enough and the bus issue. Toldot because of this has been on the retreat for years already. This is an attempt to win back leadership --which translates to power and money.

Ger receives some Zionist money. It cannot lead Eda Haredit.

These morons need to be taken off the government dole immediately. They obviously have learned nothing about hilchot nezikin and genaiva (laws of damages -torts- and of theft), and money spent subsidizing their learning is wasted.

Would we all have the same reaction if, say, the owner of the store was molesting kids?
Just wondering....

Jackbooted thugs.
But it's okay because it's a kiddush Hashem, yes? Because the ends justify the means, yes? Because their kashrut is impeccable and their bloodline so holy that they can do this in the name of... who is it they're worshipping again? Not Hashem.

Basically these are routine criminals, but by being Jews of the orthodox faction, they seem to think that they merit a place in the annals of righteous behavior. This is a fallacy and I am sure that our Creator will punish accordingly.

Those who would burn books would burn people

See. That's the difference between that bookstore owner and myself.
Black hat? I don't care.
Try that at my business, you won't see a security camera. Just the business end of a 12 gauge shotgun.

Yep, In Texas , one is allowed lethal force to protect property, of course to make sailing through a Grand Jury easier, one should say "I thought they were going to kill me"
Another "no bill" from a Texas Grand Jury"

Let's put out the word. Any store that gets vandalized is the one American tourists will flock to. Any store not bearing a sign condemning the violence will not be frequented.

Interesting. Bookstores were the only businesses that survived unscathed in the recent English riots..

Uh dude in what way does he look Lubavitch? He doesn't wear an "up hat"? Go to Flatbush, Lakewood, and even BP and Monsey, many people wear their brims down. As for the comparison to the Taliban, I know a couple thousand dead people that would argue.

"As for the comparison to the Taliban, I know a couple thousand dead people that would argue."
The Taliban didn't start out killing either. They vandalized, threatened people, burned books, forced gender segregation, etc. The parallels are uncanny, and if the Haredim's actions aren't taken seriously enough, they'll progress like the Taliban did.
