Hasidim are the best. APC couldn't dance like that if his life depended on it.

Not bad for a White guy.
Posted by: anuran | June 28, 2011 at 01:25 AM
Good stuff !
All children like to dance and feel free. Some adults feel shy about moving their body through dance which is sad. It doesn't matter if you enjoy ballroom, tango, techno, trance, swing, bootscooting or ballet. Dancing is good for the soul. I also have no problem with men and women dancing together if it is under certain conditions.

Aren't Hasids racist? Aren't Hasids sexist? Why is he dancing with a black woman?
Maybe he isn't really a hasid?
Posted by: Guest | June 28, 2011 at 09:30 AM
Shmarya,
Lets see, these guys didn't commit a crime and are not public figures.
Just asking some questions:
Even if this video is available elsewhere what kick do YOU get out of this in posting this video?
Do you think it will help them with their marriage?
Can it be that the ONLY reason you are posting it because by nature you are a very bad person who loves to hurt people?
Will you call my comments "attacking the messenger"?
please do the right thing.

Beautiful video.

Shmaryahooo!
I wasn't brought up to understand that type of video, just wanted to know where you come in that video, because I have yet to see a video of you?
Posted by: Loshonhora | June 28, 2011 at 11:53 AM
I think Shmarya is showing us the beautiful side of the Hasidic religion. With all the negativity about the Hasidic religion out there, it's good to see that Hasidic people really are normal and love to dance with women, showing that they really aren't sexist. Also, Hasidic people dance with blacks as well, showing us that they aren't racists.
APC,
how many reform Jews have danced with black women? Does that make Hasidic Jews less racist than reform Jews?
Just wondering.

Edgar Bronfman is married to a black shiksa.
Posted by: Deremes | June 28, 2011 at 12:21 PM
Deremes,
Edgar Bronfman Jr. divorced his African American wife in 1991 after having three children with her. I quote from Wikipedia:
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
So, I guess Bronfman Sr. is a racist after all. Also, Bronfman Jr. was convicted of insider trading and given a suspended sentence. Some wonder if there were political connections that saved this guy's ass.
And this guy is a reform Jew? Makes you wonder.....
I have never seen a video of a reform Jew dancing with a black woman so happily enjoying life. What this tells me is that Hasidic Jews are not inherently racist. They just don't have anything to do with non-Jews due to their religious values, and will not have anything to do with strange women, black or white.
But as soon as you throw off the religious shackles, these Hasidics are the most fun-loving enjoyable loveable people in the world, and will share their love of life with anyone, including a black woman.
I admire them for this.

what is wrong with Deremes? this is the most awesome thing i've seen today.

Idiot.
You're drawing your conclusion from one incident. And that incident is two hasidim looking to get laid.
That there are many other incidents that involve haredi on black racism you ignore.

i'm embarrassed

Shmarya, when I was younger (around 1978) and a BT, I did exactly what that guy did a few times, in a club called Adam's Apple (E61 and 1 Ave). The club had multiple levels, with different crowds, one of which was almost all blacks.
I had a great time, nobody knew me or cared who I was. The black people got a kick out of my dance moves. Nobody gave me any difficulty, the music was otherworldly, and I felt a sense of freedom and relief that I had never felt before.
And no, I wasn't really there to get laid with a black woman. I was there because I could relax and enjoy without my parents or rabbi or some holier-than-thou BT telling me what I ought to do.
Mystery Dance Man, I salute you.
Now these are songs to dance to, not that saccharine frum stuff posted earlier:

Posted by: poshiteryid | June 28, 2011 at 09:30 PM
they have done nothing wrong but it looks very funny with a white shirt and the payos hanging and flying with the beat!!!
there is an element of joy in someones fall (i don't think they like the sudden publicity)

To poshiterid,
King David loved to dance.
Perhaps Moshiach can be present on Planet Earth but the awareness of his existence unfolds over time. i.e. Not instant, microwave revelation. The point is as well that he will help redeem the structures in place in society in the financial, social, legal, spiritual and sexual realms. As the terraforming of the Redemption unfolds so will the rate of human self actualisation. The most important messianic imperative is to usher in an age of world peace. Turning people to the good/G-d is the key to unlocking the door of this global potential.
Hope this has not been too metaphysical for you.

Adam, I am sure you appreciate the fact that a dance beat of 120 beats per minute, with loud deep bass, accompanied by a vocalist who sings with a gravely-voiced passion, stirs something in the soul, and directly affects the mind/body connection.
The syrupy whining of most yid music just doesn't do it for me. It just seems to be pandering to the 'the rebbe approves of this' crowd.
Listen to Chuck Berry's song Memphis Tennessee. Take your pick of the Beatles or Stones versions:

shamaryahu,
You are a douche bag!!!!
Posted by: Dave | June 29, 2011 at 09:14 AM
Adam i don't see how your answer should ease my disgust. What is seen in this video is the epitome of ultimate pritzus. do not attempt to justify wrongdoers. tap into the innermost chambers of your heart and listen to the voice that tells you "this is wrong". jews of all kinds have no excuse to entertain themselves in those surroundings. dancing is beautiful but it can be done in one's own house or with the right friends-of the same gender of course. All sexual pleasures should be derived from spending time with one's spouse and ultimately that will make a person truly happy. Am i not right?
Posted by: poshiteryid | June 29, 2011 at 09:23 AM
I don't see anything negative in this clip. Just two chassidim having a good time on the dance floor. All the naysayers should get a life and mind their own business. And to say that they are out there to get laid is just plain dumb. Ya'll gotta chill! Love those dancing peyes!!!
Posted by: Mindy | June 29, 2011 at 09:40 AM
You don't see anything negative in this clip? Oh so perhaps you were also "chillin" out there but luckily the video didn't zoom in on you! are you so blind that you cannot perceive the outright pritzus taking place in that video? Would you allow your child into such a place? I am not a naysayer by nature and i do like to chill out here and there but there is a certain limit that we jews must never cross and the chassidim in this video have clearly violated that. We should be proud of our tradition and our holy lineage. Such entertainment can only bring destruction upon those who engage in it.

To poshiteryid,
I think in a past life you lived in early 1600’s Puritan England. Such rigidity is a problem.
A healthy human life is a balance of work, rest and play. Lenore Terr wrote a book on the importance of unstructured play. She discovered that the one common characteristic of all serial murderers was that in their childhood they never enjoyed unstructured play. Dancing is one of the most unstructured playful things you can do, even if it is stylised ballroom. Dancing in public also shows a bit of self confidence and courage. A happy child will dance without a care in the world.
A story...
I remember being at an outdoor dance party in central Victoria the mid 90's with my girlfriend and others. One morning the sun was rising and the music was "going off" as they say. I was having a ball. We were all having fun. To the side of the dance floor stood three burly blokes in their bright orange CFA (Country Fire Authority) vests. I was in my early thirties then. They would have been in their mid forties. They had their dark glasses on, jeans, heavy work boots, arms crossed and had a look of mild disdain on their faces. This look was tinged with just a hint of envy for the movement that was going on in front of them on the tidal-like dance floor populated with all kinds of colourful creatures.
My girlfriend and I sensed something and being our sparky selves we started playacting in front of them, mimicking their stance in a gentle, mocking way. After a few minutes the energy and smiles w did the trick and one of the blokes started tapping his foot ever so imperceptibly to the thump, thump, thump of the 140 bpm techno emanating from one of the speakers that some feral had fallen asleep next to. (But that’s another story.) There were some cracks in the hard man edifice now appearing. I can’t remember exactly but I think my girlfriend reached out her hand and invited him to dance. This was a move with a low chance of success because we could see he was thinking the following...(a) No way I’m leaving my safe little spot here with my two mates and a beer. (b) There is no way known I am going to cop any crap from my mates for making a fool of myself. (c) You have got to be joking ! The last time I danced was at my sister’s wedding twenty years ago and I was blotto. (d) The other dancers will think I’m a fool the way I am dressed. (e) I’m a CFA volunteer from the bush. We don’t dance. (f) You are all crazy.
There was another little voice inside of him however. It was his true innocent self, saying “Gee whiz, it could be quite fun. Everyone else is having a good time, Why can’t I ?”
With a little more kind encouragement he made the one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind and joined the sea of movement. His mates were visibly shocked, chortling to themselves over his silly bravado. After a few little moves however you could see they were warming up to his new found chutzpah. Within minutes and after a few swigs of his VB he was away. His two mates joined him not long after. The other dancers and us mirrored and validated their presence in a kind way so that they felt comfortable and free. A little bit of ribbing also cajoled them into loosening up. No one on G-d’s good Earth who saw what unfolded would say there was anything wrong with it. We lost them a little while later. Swept up into the sea they were. A tsunami of techno. We saw them later in the morning still bopping away. They were having a great time and were sure to have some good stories to tell. It was thankfully a mild day that day so their fire fighting services weren’t needed. The other super sticks in the mud CFA crew back near the fire truck had things covered and could not be moved from their perches. It became bush party folklore that “You can lead a CFA Volunteer Firefighter to a dance floor but you can’t make them all dance.”
MOTS - A little boogie is good for the soul...

To Adam Neira - ahh... too many party drugs in the '80s-'90s. That explains a great deal. That'd be enough to give anyone a Messianic complex. Doof doof.
