New Square Residents Brainwashed, Attack Victim Says
"The grand rebbe is looked at by the people in New Square as total spirituality," he said. "Even his body is spirituality. The people are getting brainwashed.…They only know the grand rebbe, New Square, the grand rebbe, New Square. They don't know the outside, what freedom is all about."
Read the Journal News story on Lohud.com.
Arson victim Aron Rottenberg said Wednesday that the people of New Square — while good and well-meaning — have been brainwashed into believing they must have no contact with the outside world.
All that many know, he said, is that Grand Rebbe David Twersky has absolute authority over their lives.
"They are so isolated that they have no idea what is going on in the world outside," he said. "These people feel they are the world."
Replace "Grand Rebbe" with "Gadol Hador" and the same can be said for the Yeshivish Community.

Now you all see i was right all along lohud is confirming it today that saul spitzer was never charged and $300,000 bail was never given it now reads that saul spitzer is facing grand jury charges of possible attempted murder and he was released from the hospital without any bail

I read the article in LoHud. It said nothing about Shaul Spitzer not being charged; he was and is charged with attempted murder. Nor did it say anything about the return of bail.
The article did, however, make a couple of interesting points:
1. The rabbi and his minions are talking about a settlement with Rottenberg. I very much doubt that any settlement would prevent charges from being filed against this rabbi, nor against his henchmen. Certainly not federal charges.
2. Apparently Spitzer's father, Israel, who's the deputy mayor of New Square and is thus a public official whose salary is paid by taxpayers, demanded that Ruth Rottenberg, Aron's wife, wear the "proper" head covering over her sheytel or the kids would be kicked out of school. Maybe I'm naive, but what right does a public official have to dictate a religious matter? Maybe in Afghanistan, but New Square isn't Kabul nor Kandahar. Or is it?
Aron Rottenberg is literally a holocaust survivor; a holocaust perpetuated by so-called "Jews."

Most Chassidic Jews are brainwashed. They attend schools run by their sect from age 3. All teachers and administrators are members of the sect.Their classmates are sect members only. The summer camps ditto, marriages are between sect members . So by the time they are 19 they are fully brianwashed. And they remain so with separate sect cemetaries
These are not schools but indoctrination centers.
ONly in Chabad are there some sect members who have open eyes and can think along with the brainwashed majority.
Skver maybe a bit more severe but all hassidim with a few individual exceptions are in this state of mind.

You're a sick, delusional person. You're in a cult. Get mental health counseling.

Most news sites describe Israel Spitzer (the deputy mayor) as the "cousin" (not the father).

Any city that has become so sick conjures up the image of an עיר הנדחת (Deuteronomy 13), which must be totally destroyed according to the Torah.
Unfortunately, certain communities have, in recent years, hosted this so called 'Grand Rabbi' with his entourage for visits lasting around a week, which has enabled him to raise funds to keep his enterprise going, in addition to basking in glory and adulation from the naive fortunate ones who weren't doomed to grow up in his 'paradise' (which in turn helps him among the faithful). Among them, in recent years, the Five Towns area, KGH, Midwood, and BP in NY.
Additionally, many people have visited the leader for blessings and advice. Often such petitioners contribute financially as well.
Such actions constitute enabling of this violent cult. I realize that people may not have realized the depths of depravity of this sect then, but now there is no excuse.
They must be cut off from outside support. An outside overseer should be appointed to oversee and rehabilitate the town, as has occurred in past when corrupt unions and bankrupt cities were taken over by the government. Cf. how the defeated Axis Powers were dealt with after WWII. The populace must be reeducated and rehabilitated. Then there might be an opportunity for change.

I don't care if Israel is Shaul's Godfather. He's a public official, and as such, has no right to tell people how to practice, or not practice, their religion.

Sharya: In reference to this statement you made: "You're a sick, delusional person. You're in a cult. Get mental health counseling.”
I really wish you would avoid name calling and personal insults. They are unnecessary and a bit mean spirited. It also takes credibility away from you. I would rather see you respond thoughtfully and intelligently. I am sure you are capable of knocking out the teeth of the Orthodox Borg (ala the fourth son), and it would be much more entertaining.
P.S.
I know it was not directed at me, but I have come to like your blog and would rather see you raise the conversational bar and avoid swimming in the mud.

You're talking about the comment I made to moshy, who is delusional and who is in a cult.
I'm not going to coddle him.

Federal case could dissolve Kiryas Joel

The interesting part of the article is the sidebar on the Hindu cult that for a time controlled a town, Rajneeshpuram Oregon.
God only knows what it means to 'dissolve' Kiryas Joel and if that will improve anything.

I don't think that anything Rottenberg says is the Gospel...just because he was nearly murdered doesn't make any of his opinions more or less truthful - he was grievously wronged and deserves vengeance or whatever the hell he wants - close the fucking town down - but I don't see him as an authority on anything...I think it's pretty common knowledge that the town is a kind of cult...
