Israel Independence Day In Williamsburg, Part 2
Here is a rough translation:
1st line: Major mourning for Jews (a sentence from Megillat Esther)
2nd line: Fast, Crying and Eulogy
3rd line on:
It is more than 60 years that the tumah [impurity] of Zionizm came
into being in the form of the state. The zionist idea is complete
tumah that denies the name of the G-d of Israel and uproots the
holiness of the nation of Israel, Rachmana Litzlan. It is a kefirah [heretical act] in
reward and punishment. A kfirah [heretical act] in exile and redemption, a kefirah [heretical act] in
the belief in Messiah and ressurection of the dead. It is a kefirah
[heretical act], a denial] in the 13 principles of the faith. It is a denial of our holy
Torah and the words of the prophets Chazal. It is an impurity that
touches the root of roots of the holiness of Israel. The State and
Zionizm transgresses on the oaths that God made Israel swear.
It brought much tsarot [suffering] in body and soul and spilled the blood of the
people of Israel on the altar of the state and Zionism.
Massacres, exiles, powerty and hatred of the nations of the world.
[in large letters]
Therefore: we will gather on 2nd day of the week parshat Behar on the
5th of Iyar
t the Netivot Olam Shul
205 Hewes Street
We will say Thillim, read vayechal
and listen to the addresses of major Rabbis
We hope that the evil will disappear as smoke and the Lord will cause
to pass the evil government from the world
Like Superman renouncing his American citizenship, I renounce my association with Orthodoxy.

Happy Birthday to the State of Israel !
The country is not perfect but on any scale it is one of the better places in the world to be a citizen at this time. It is part of G-d's plan. There have been some incredibly important shifts in worldview and frames of reference in the minds of various scholars, rabbis, intellectuals and politicians since 2008. Like the walls of Jericho eventually with persistence, faith and hard work it is possible to knock down the toughest of walls. The process has really accelerated the last twelve months. The first flowering of the redemption idea as per the 1948 founding is incorrect.
The holy days have been coming thick and fast lately. Organized holidays to make people focus on a certain event have their place, but G-d is the ultimate social engineer. The best holy day should be when one feels a sense of stability, order, benevolence and expansiveness. Perhaps more and more Israelis and Jews are feeling like many days are like this. Almost feels Messianic, nu ? How people are interpreting time and space right now is interesting.

Massacres, exiles, powerty and hatred of the nations of the world.
and what happened before the state came into being we also had much pain.
However I do see a common denominator in the last few hundred years Satmer.
So maybe god is punishing Jews for the sins of satmer

As one of my fellow Chief Rabbis once wrote,

How about the accursed filth Joel Teitlbaum running away like a rat with his scowling ugly ass without any concern for those left behind. This is why God hates His people. What's amazing to me is that these Satmar sons-of-whores have absolutely no ability to look inside themselves and see the destructive evil that permeates them. So, they keep up the unrelenting hatred for outsiders, the raping of their own youth, and their seething hatred for making an honest living as God commanded them to do.

Satmar is only as old as when the first Satmar Rov, the tzaddik Reb Yoilish ZYA, established it. Far from 300 years.

The State of Israel's Rabbinate was too afraid to institute Torah reading on Yom Ha'atzmaut that wasn't a normal day to read the Torah.
But these people happily innovate reading vayichal on mincha (what you would layn on a fast day) of Yom Ha'atzmaut or...what is actually yom haziqaron this .

MW, it was the medieval fanaticism of those such as Chaim Elazar Shapiro of Muncatz who brought about the situation where Jews literally disappeared as smoke in Nazi crematoria.
Why do you think that Jews have abandoned ultra orthodoxy Judaism on mass both before and after the war. It is because it is dangerous and bad for you.

I see that hatred abounds here on this blog-especially from the comments here(really full of love).
The people quoted here do not curse individuals. They have a reason for being antiZionist and they express it but they pray that the "evil"passes away not the evil doers!(consistent with Torah teaching yitamu chataaim vilo chotim-may the evil disappear not the evildoers-they should repent)
Why can't a divergent view of Israel exist without such hatred when so many "zionist"proponents can speak openly against the Torah and Jewish values.
BTW someone mentions the Stamar and work-The rebbe advocated work for his chassidim and himself was scrupulously honest. He did little on his own to be saved-others saved him .He operated organizations to save and help refugees after the war.At the time he was asved there was little he could have done to save anyone.

there is alot of sense in the message that great suffering has been caused to jews through the establishment of the state. certainly a distorted view of history and of our spiritual treasures has occurred but whether that's from the state is up to question.on the other hand there could be alot of good from this yet to come.

from Jerusalem, this has nothing to do with hate.
In the 19th century most people believed that cholera was an airborne disease. For me to point out that they were mistaken in that cholera is waterborne and that this mistake had terrible consequences does in no way mean that I hate those who through their ignorance and through no fault of their own wrongly thought otherwise.
The Haredi ideology of medievalism and exilism inevitably led to backwardness and a vulnerability to persecution and destruction for which only secularism is the answer.
It is the Neturei Karta whose cognitive dissonance leads them to spew hate at those who point out what following the mesorah led to.
Jack, I regard the spiritual treasures you refer to as I regard the war poetry from the Great War. It may be good but it certainly was not worth the suffering and misery that created it.
Posted by: Barry | May 10, 2011 at 09:22 AM
Interestingly enough The Neturei Karta's position on Israel goes much futher then Satmar. NK has feelings for the palestinian arabs and openly says so. However if you asked a satmar chosid "do you also have feeings for the arabs who "suffered" under the zionists" ? They would probably answer that the we don't care about them and they should drop dead.
Subtle but important differences.

Of course, seymour - why would they read something that tells them what they don't want to hear?
Posted by: Jeff | May 10, 2011 at 08:06 PM
Actually, several so called "Gedolim", including the Satmar rebeb; Belz rebbe; R Elchanan Wasserman; R Haim Ozer Grozensky all opposed leaving europe to save lives. They have the blood of their many followers on their hands. Wasserman actually escaped, but returned to die with the students he condemned - presumably he had seen his own sin.
R Aron Kotler was also opposed to leaving, especially for Israel. However, he had a change of heart. He managed to escape, and from America he worked tirelessly to save as many lives as he could, even breaking Shabbat to so. ie, his position was the opposite of his mentors, and his own original views. Such was his "turnabout" that the previous Lubavitcher rebbe, attacked R Kotler for breaking Shabbes in order to save lives!
Moral of the story: majority of those rabbis were war criminals. That doesnt mean that the secular zionists were tzaddikim, but a lot of falsehood and absurdities are said about them. How exactly could the Zionists have procured 10,000 trucks for the nazis? Would America or England have provided them? Britain was not even allowing Jews into Israel. Do you think they wanted more Jews to escape from Hungary? England didnt have 10,000 trucks. Perhaps they could have put 10,00 warplanes on their shopping list, and the americans would have obliged. Total nonsense.
Posted by: bates motel | May 11, 2011 at 08:34 AM
It is also important to distinguish between the State of Israel, which means Jewish military control, and the individuals who are elected to government there.
Very few Haredi rabbis today would allow the transfer of Israeli land to non Jews. Perhaps the NK, the meshugga Satmer and toldos yaakov, but that's it.
But there are also murderers amongst the secular Zionsit elite - like Moshe Dayan, Rabin and Peres, who in 1973 allwoed the Egyptian army to attack Israel, and even cleared minefields to make it easier for the egyptian tanks to roll in, killing thousands of Israelis in the process.
And the Oslo peace process which armed the PLO and brought them to Israel and Gaza to kill thousands more Israelis. This process was initially backed by Rav Shach and Ovadiah Yosef. Shach changed his mind at the last minute, after 25 years of vile hatred of the Gush Emunim and settlers. Yosef helped Rabin to bring Arafat into
Eretz Yisrael.
So you see, even the evil secular traitors can only operate by having Haredi help.
And btw, these mamzerim like Peres, Beillin etc are anti-zionists. They want a secular state mixed with a palestinian one. Anyone who is against Jewish sovereignty in Eretz Yisrael is anti zionist, whether they eat pork or glatt kosher.
