Toronto Haredi Rabbis Ban Blogs, Email Blasts That Question Haredi Rabbinic Leadership

The Va'ad has prominent members like Rabbi Yaakov Felder, a disciple Agudath Israel's Rabbi Shlomo Miller, who himself regularly attack Modern Orthodox rabbis. Yet the Va'ad has now banned blogs and email blasts that question Miller's and other haredi rabbis' behavior, hiding behind lashon hara laws Miller and other haredi rabbis regularly violate.

Regarding the internet; it is common knowledge that there is great danger in web surfing. People who were otherwise pretty settled in their lives suddenly had their lives in shambles. Too many hours spent surfing the net brought them to no-good activities... I personally know a few who even landed in jail. I can vouch for them that had they not been exposed to what they have been, they would still have led very happy lives. If you are as intelligent as you claim to be, you know that this is fact.

What none of you realize is that Rabbi Yaacov Felder may his father rest in peace has an email about him going around the internet located at;

You will understand by listening to this tape why this letter was produced by some Rabbis in Toronto to protect Rabbi Yaacov Felder and Rabbi Tsvi Heber. This tape shows what happens when a mashgiach reports that a business under the COR tries to bribe different mashgiachim and that the end result is they remove the mashgiach and do nothing to the company.

There is an attempt by the Kashruth Council of Canada who is run by Rabbi Yaacov Felder to destroy a competitor of theirs called Badatz Toronto. They have informed all companies under their jurisdiction that any products from Badatz Toronto will not be allowed in their establishments. If they bring them in they will be removed from the COR. This plus other threats have stopped most competition in the Toronto market leaving the cost of kosher products more expensive than they should be.

It only gets worse in Toronto with many more people having evidence against many others which you can figure out who they are, consisting of photos and other recording. This is the reason of the document above not because of any religious reasons.

Further the Rabbi from the Agudath Israel's is the well respected Rabbi Moshe Lowy, not Rabbi Shlomo Miller who is one of the heads of the Kollel Avreichim of Toronto.

Fellows - this letter put out by the Vaad has nothing to do with Badatz. Badatz is an excellent hashgacha that everyone in Toronto holds by and is supported by all Rabbonim in the city.This is about an individual who has been sending emails for many years about Rabbi Miller and his edicts that are highly critical of Rabbi Miller. The sad part is that when It is in Rav Millers interest he uses the Vaad for his own political interests. When its not convenient he bypasses the vaad and does whatever he feels like. Years ago a COR caterer lost his hashgacha because they found treif fish. The vaad had a beis din remove the hashgacha and found the owner to be untrustworthy. Once Rabbi Miller hikjacked the COR and put R Felder and Tzvi Haber in charge, the individual had his hashgacha re-instated personally by Rabbi Miller. Many rabbis felt that he was out of line and shoulf have consulted with the beis din to see If a re-instatement was allowed al pi halacha. I find it laughable that guys like Rabbi Yackov Felder who are embroiled in constant lashon harah and machlokes are doing this "leshiem shamayim" and do not want to hide the truth about their personal conduct.

The Kol Koreh is a response by the VAAD to my emails since the Slifkin affair wherein I take Rabbi Shlomo Miller to task for the uncivil manner in which he treats those he disagrees with. Rabbi Miller just could not take the heat so he had the Vaad issue the Kol Koreh although he is not a member of the VAAD. I do not know anything about the allegation regarding Rabbi Felder and the COR noted above but he was undoubtedly the prime move at the VAAD to issue the call for people to distance themselves from yours truly.
On January 16th I receievd the email below from someone who receievd Smicha from Rabbi Miller to alert to what I can expect.

Hey can you believe this Joey Fried and the Vaad are on the same page. For over five years I have been decrying the crude deligitmization of so many Talmidei Hachomim and organizations by the Rabbi who shoots from the lip. But that does not suffice he has to take to the Internet to disseminate his contempt for anyone who has views which he disagrees with.
I am so glad that the VAAD has finally come to the realization I was correct all along.

I gather after I indicated that Hutchens affair could have been avoided by using a simple tool like google they googled the rabbi who shoots from the lip.

RSN is compared by RSM to the Rosho and RSN's views are heretical, notwithstanding that RSN's view merely reflect views of many rishonim and achronim. If you have not seen the annotated version its just fabulous especially how they point out the plagiarism by RSM from Wikpedia.

Although RSN refused to meet with RSM on his first trip to TO he eventually was prevailed upon by one of RSM's rabbinic lackeys to meet with RSM. So the question arises if the the Rabbonim in Toronto accept Badatz why won't COR. Is it the sound of money clinking in their ears clouding their judgement in accepting them. Money does strange things to people and drives their morals underground.

The Jewish population in Toronto whether Orthodox, Conservative or Reform must stand up and fight for their rights to eat wherever they wish as long as the hashgocha is acceptable. If you want your costs to drop when for example you make a kosher wedding then raise your voices and demand that you have a right to use which hashgocha you want too without interference. If the Rabbis you hold of refuse change use your power as a consumer and take your business elsewhere. If the majority of the public does this change will come quickly.

Mordy , We know your name is not Mordy and most likely you have no clue what your talking about. Badatz does not certify treif which is ludicrous to state. Rather than defend the corrupt rabbi's who are motzie laz on other rabbonim you go and join them and attack a group of other Rabonim. There are companies like Zuchters that have owners that were caught with treif working for companies like peter graben who finally had his hashgacha removed and COR gives them hashgacha. There are companies and individuals who have been caught with treif fish who Rabbi Miller intervened on their behalf to give them back their hashgacha. The ethics is where guys like Rabbi Miller and Rabbi Felder are lacking in. They have companies that pay off the COR to look the other way and then go and trash the competition because they can not compete fairly. The letter in the newspaper published has nothing to do with kashrus and all to do with Rabbi Miller trying to shut Joseph Freid up who is standing up for other Rabonim who were trashed publicly by Rabbi Miller. While I do believe Rabbi Miller is a big talmid chochom and has a lot of chochmah, him and his talmidim have no derech eretz when it comes to treating people. If Rabbi Slifkin has a different viewpoint in halacha, it does not make him an apikoros. If Rabbi Broyde is trying to be dan lechaf zecus on women who dont cover their hair, then it doesnt make him a reformer like Acher. Rabbi Broyde was very clear that its not halachiclly allowed and Rabbi Miller condemned what he never heard and what Rav Broyde never said. This is the the problem when you have Rabbis who are self appointed "Rosh Hair's" who denounce anyone who takes away from their authority and takes a different viewpoint in halacha.he has the chutzbah to slander other organizations privately and then get his stooge Felder to rally the vaad in his support against Joseph Fried. To be honest I have to disagree with one point Joseph Fried made. The kollel avreichim has done much good in Toronto. Many people have come back to Judiasm and the place is a makom Torah. The mistake Rabbi Miller made is trying to become a shul rabbi from a rosh kollels perspective. Name me one other Rosh Kollel in the world that gets involved with politics. That was never the role of a rosh kollel. The role of a rosh kollel is to teach torah, do outreach in the community and bring people closer to g-d. Not to issue edicts, passul one rabbi after another up and cause international chillul hashems with his approach to those who disagree with HIS diatribes.

This is for Mordy. Your knowledge of the kashrus industry in Toronto is truly lacking. If you only knew of the problems with the COR you would tremble with fear and consternation. Chaim's knowledge far exceeds yours in knowing the many violations pertaining to the COR and some of its employees. They are so corrupt that there is no way to fix the issues they have created.

I'd suggest you do much more research, speak to many people in the community and find out what and who COR really is. Rabbi Gedalia Felder is turning in his grave seeing the damage his son has done to the COR. Rabbi Tsvi Heber is the best thing that has ever happened to the COR as he himself is more than capable of destroying it. This community must stand up once and for all and force COR to mend their ways, or throw them permanently out of this community including some of the people that work there.

Instead of all the people that read this and complain to others how bad it is, get out of your shells, stand up and do something about it. Put pressure on your Rabbis to do something and if that doesn't help, contact the companies that display the COR symbol and tell them you will not buy or use their product as long as it displays the COR symbol. Then stop using products under the COR label and use products from other kashrus agencies until this matter is resolved.

If all the people who eat kosher work together as a group, we have the power to force change upon the COR and other kashrus agencies. We must also make sure that there is more kashrus agencies competing in Toronto area which itself will restrain the COR from their corrupt and unethical behavior and activities.

Its a fact that Fedler and Haber destroyed the COR. The level of gayva that they have is not something covered in any mussar sefer as no gadol even contemplated such akshanus and haughtiness. One day they will both have to answer for their crimes. They fired many mashgichim and especially the ones who reported caterers that were trying to bribe them.
