The former NCSY head may be visiting his son in Baltimore for Passover.

 

The person who tipped me about Lanner's possible visit to Baltimore wants you to make sure to watch your children closely if Lanner is indeed there.

My understanding is that he never randomly attacked and molested children who were in sight, like a rapist. He acted inappropriately with younger girls that he had relationships with, which he violated in horrible ways. I'm not trying to downplay what he did, but let's not blow this out of proportion here. No-I wouldn't allow my daughter to be in a car with him for a long drive, but it's not like random children in shul or the park need to stay far away that he will just suddenly attack them. Let's get a grip on reality here.

And yes, I was in Etz Chaim NCSY, and not only that, but I summered with Lanner in the Catskills for years, and he never molested or abused me or my sister or anybody I knew. Not saying he's innocent. I'm saying he's made mistakes. He's not a slavering monster from a sci-fi movie.

Not molested: I was in Etz Chaim both as a kid and an advisor, and Lanner was so out of line so frequently it was a disgrace. He used to fondle some of the girls so frequently that it became like an abused child situation, it was often among the "hard core" devotees, who he had "Stockholmed" into this sad submissive state at Shabbatons. Several of us on this blog know many of the cases.
Still, I don't think he's a predator threat to random children, it was more a manipulative thing, much like Gafni a few years later.

It is a shame, that in the 21st century, we still have people who believe that a molester must have some demonic features. Would Lanner all of sudden strike up a conversation with a child and molest him, I doubt. Nevertheless, to point out his whereabouts is part and parcel of the intention of the national sexual offender registry. Is it painful for Lanner, yes, but he is the one who brought the pain on his family and himself, if for only one second he thought about the jeopardy for himself and family, before he made his move we would not be here discussing his charges and how far parents need to go to protect their children

Mistakes??-a mistake, genius, is when you meant to buy skim milk and you buy regular milk-it is NOT when you are a serial fondler of children for years!!!-how the hell did this ass get away with this for so many years???-I thought jews were smart-maybe they are, but it sure seems that alot lack the balls to rip a guy apart when he is deserving.

a) Rabbi Sobel did not sodomize "dozens" of students.
b) He does not live in Har Nof or have anything to do with that neighborhood.
c) I know for a fact that as part of his tremendous teshuvah (which halevei you and I would do for our sins) he doesn't go the mikve at all - even on Erev Yom Kippur!

I just saw Baruch Lanner at Stop and Shop in Teaneck NJ on Sunday May 22, 2011. I then checked the NJ Sex Offenders Registry and his name is not listed. Does anyone know why he wouldn't be listed - I checked "lanner" and nothing came up. I would want to know if he's living in Teaneck. He attacked me as a child (at an NCSY event - pushed me against the wall and punched me because I chose not to dance). He's a twisted person.
