Everyone loves a parade but is there any special reason on this specific day? Hmmmm. Who took picture on Yomtov? Chabad Press Corps? The rebbe himself?

The Lubavitchers that still think that M.M.Schneerson was/is Moshiach are deluded. What they may not realise is that a plan is already being heeded by the Powers That Be, so the order that is being established may look like someone is keeping watch over things. It is just that he is alive and not dead. I know that some Lubavitchers are twisting the prophecies to say that the Rebbe's spirit is hovering over the Temple Mount and thus his messianic credentials are still possible. I fear that some of them in the year 2049 when the Third Temple has been built, world peace is firing on all cylinders, the Jews are safe and the Sanhedrin meets for BBQ's every Thursday night in the Old City and a certain bloke who has been the catalyst for these things is alive and kicking that there will still be some Lubavitchers praying for the return of the Rebbe.

There is no Halachic issue with these Moshiachists taking the photo on Yom Tov as such a prohibition only applies to Jews.

I've got that flag almost figured out. It looks like one of these:
1. The flag of the Brunei Royal Family
2. The Indonesian President's flag.
3. The Hague
4. New Mexico State flag.
5. Oh, duh, it's the Vatican flag!

We buy into a silly notion, that God decided to 'Choose' a certain group of people (those born to a Jewish mother), out of all his children, (non-jews who are constantly being born to their mother, and nurtured by God).
So, believing in the yellow flag is not any worse.

Apologies to Izzy Baline (er, Irving Berlin)
In your black fedora,
With avodah zora,
You’re following strange Torah, in
The Moshiach parade.
Your Chabad black bonnet
Wants to make me vomit
As you march through Brooklyn, in
The Moshiach parade
On the Parkway
Eastern Parkway
The Meshichistim, like on Easter,
Waiting for him to rise from the dead.
The hat at jaunty angle,
Jewish ways you mangle;
You’re marching just like goyim, in
The Moshiach parade.

that is why many sane people do not buy that silly notion and other silly ones

Yom Tov didn't start until sundown on Sunday, and this photo looks like the event occurred during daylight hours?
Posted by: Maple Bacon | April 27, 2011 at 10:49 AM
Hey, the Christians can have an Easter
Parade, so why can't the Messianic Chabad
faction have a Passover Parade combined
with an egg matzah hunt ?

They are truly a bunch of fucking nut jobs with a crazy agenda. Take away food stamps , sect. 8 housing ,ssi and fake marriages there would be NO time for this perversion.

How about a song from the Messiah Man (or music man or something like that)
Seventy-six apikorsim led the big parade
With a hundred and ten black hats close at hand.
They were followed by rows and rows of the welfare taking schmos-
Spreading chilul hashem throughout the land.
Seventy-six apikorsim worshipped Shneerson.
With a hundred and ten black hats right behind
The 613 commanded deeds
Were discarded just like weeds
There were humras of ev'ry shape and kind.

Just like their photos of the Rebbe are getting larger and larger, so is the size of the Moshiach flags. I think next year at the Rebbe parade they will have a giant blowup float of the Rebbe and they will be handing out Rebbe eggs to all the children.
Posted by: David | April 27, 2011 at 04:13 PM
I've seen this group of loonies with that flag posing in front of 770.
The downstairs main shul there is now an official insane asylum.
Legitimate schluchim are embarrassed to bring visitors to Crown Heights there.

Why are the last two photographs in Blurr-O-Vision?
I would only be afraid of a parade like this if the marchers were armed. I don't think they made a real impression; it was just another bit of strangeness in NYC.
Posted by: Strelnikov | April 27, 2011 at 05:24 PM
What's next? apparitions of the Rebbe iamges on Matzo's?
Posted by: Maximillian | April 27, 2011 at 05:44 PM
No, Max, it will be images of the Rebbe on refrigerator doors, ha ha !
Posted by: Dave | April 27, 2011 at 07:41 PM
I think next year at the Rebbe parade they will have a giant blowup float of the Rebbe and they will be handing out Rebbe eggs to all the children.
I think handing out Rebbe eggs would be uncharacteristically generous. I can't imagine them handing out food that the State hasn't paid for.
Look at it this way, taxpayers pay for the Easter Egg hunt on the White House lawn. Doesn't it make sense for them to argue that taxpayers should pay for Rebbe eggs? Except, shucks, Rebbe's don't have eggs.
They'll step up outreach efforts with the only commodity available to these poor persecuted idiots; more free sperm for the kiddies!
Posted by: ali | April 27, 2011 at 09:08 PM
Remember the government cheese handouts? And all the frumma lined up for cholov yisroel cheese? How much extra was the government ripped off by the fraudulent cholov yisroel bullsh!t companies?
I would not doubt that there might be a giant blowup float of the Rebbe at the Lag B'Omer Parade. At past parades, they already carried around giant portraits of him, turning Eastern Parkway into downtown Pyongyang, North Korea.

bad comparison WSC-in North Korea, they are forced to go at penalty of death-these clowns actually take a break in their vodka intake to attend.
Posted by: tooclose2detroit | April 28, 2011 at 07:34 AM
No issue with taking pictures of a Choleh Sheyesh Bo Sakkana on Yom Tov, since they need treatment and without photo proof it's impossible to treat such Cholim. Moreover, such conduct delays the arrival of the real moshiach and the rebuilding of the Third Temple, which will accept korbonos even from a tinuk shenishba like Yossi, who has cast away the yoke of his Heavenly Father, may He have mercy on us.
Posted by: Dan | April 28, 2011 at 09:10 AM
OCR, TooClose, good points. At least the North Koreans are forced to attend such garrish functions. The Lubavitchers go willingly and gleefully.
I do wonder why they are ok with so many and such huge portraits of the Rebbe, but no statues yet.
Posted by: WoolSilkCotton | April 29, 2011 at 06:58 AM
WSC: but no statues yet
They will come as the Chabad religion continues to evolve away from Halachic Judaism. You will be able to go to a shop in Crown Heights and choose among numerous different Rebbe idols, in much the same way as Catholics have numerous Jesus figures from which to chose. There might even be an animated Rebbe idol that greets you as you go into the house after shul and says "Gut Shabbos".
