Exclusive: Another New Haredi Ban

This time haredim have banned a haredi magazine published in Yiddish for allegedly causing Jews to go after the ways of non-Jews.

 

A Blik Magazine is similar to what Life Magazine or Look Magazine used be like 30 years ago. It is almost all pictures, everything from pictures of various hasidic rebbes to pictures of the recent bus bombing in Israel.

A new ban decries A Blik for causing Jews to go after the ways of non-Jews, apparently by spending time looking at pictures rather than studying, and for printing pictures of rebbes alongside pictures of non-Jews, and forbids Jews to buy or read it.

The ban is signed by unnamed principals and teachers from haredi yeshivot and seminaries.

א בליק is "a glance" in Yiddish. I've never seen the magazine, except here, but it is reminiscent of Life; quick news from around the world with pictures. Something like CNN Airport News, but only on paper.

Anyway, props to the "learned leaders" for "out-frumming" the Amish.

My my my- it makes my head spin how busy the Haredim are!!! They must spend WEEKS coming up with all these man-made rules!! Thank goodness there are people like them to make sure we all live pious lives!!

Why do you care so much about these "bans" and complain about them?
They are in Yiddish a language most of the readers here can't read. They are targeted at their own communities. Noone is forced to join these communities. Very few even among their members care about such bans especially like this one that is not signed.
