The Jerusalem Magistrates Court sentenced a West Bank settler to one and a half years in prison on Sunday, after he was convicted of kidnapping and attacking a Palestinian minor on two occasions and killing his young goat.
The settler, Tzvi Struk – a resident of the Aish Kodesh settlement in Gush Shiloh – will also pay the minor NIS 50,000 in compensation.
According to the verdict, in 2007 Struk, together with another unidentified individual approached some Palestinians from Kfar Kusra on an all-terrain vehicle and fired in the air. Following that, Struk and his friend snatched a 15-year old Palestinian teenager and hit him all over his body. Struk and his friend bound the complainant's hands behind his back, covered his face, sat him between them in the all-terrain vehicle and drove off. During the ride, the complainant was beaten and lost consciousness. When he eventually woke up he was wet.
The verdict was given before Judge Amnon Cohen at the Jerusalem Magistrates Court on Sunday. The judge wrote that "I cannot help but express deep contempt and shock from the serious wounds this minor was fated to." He added that "any punishment that does not include an element of an active prison term would miss the message that needs to come out of the court in light of the severity of the actions made by the accused."
Struk's mother, Orit, who is among the leading figures of the Jewish settlement in Hebron, said in response that "the verdict grants victory to lying Arabs who are waging a national war against the Jewish farmers. The judge turned a farmer, father to three children, into a scapegoat in battle."
This Struck family seems to have a history of anti-arab violence...

Did the judge just rule that beating a Palestinian is a violation of animal cruelty laws? WTF?!
[I mean, it can't be the goat, he killed the goat, that's what would have happened to the goat anyway, and then he'd have to sentence every Arab with a goat...]

Guess I can kill you, maskill, since you're going to die anyway.

What did he have against the goat?

effie,
But am I going to be killed anyway? You don't know that. And even if you did, your logic should have this judge put away every Arab who kills his goat - unless the "beating" of the kid was the act of animal cruelty in the headline, in which case the judge is a rabid racist.
Monsey,
What did he have against the goat?
Sometimes, when you kill somebody's goat it demeans and demoralizes him, especially if it is a valued possession. If a bully broke a poor kid's Wii would you wonder what he had against the Wii? No, you'd get it. It's just like what the Zohan did to Rob Schneider's goat.

Maskill: He abused the animal resulting in it's death. And I know for a fact that you are going to die someday. Applying your own lack of logic, it doesn't matter how you are killed since you are going to die someday, too - just like the goat. A goat, however, is more useful than you.

One and a half years for kidnapping? Anything less than 5 years at hard labour is a joke for this sadistic miscreant. Had this man been an Arab who kidnapped and beat a Jew under similar circumstances, his sentence would have been much more severe.
Crap like this from the vaunted Israeli judiciary makes me question whether the Katzav behind-closed-doors conviction wasn't really politically motivated. Israel operates on the fuel of proteksiya, judiciary and legal system included. It's no more than an Jewish flavoured Ottoman province despite all the nationalistic hasbarah bull excreted by the Zsiyoyim.
