Arutz 7 is reporting that Rabbi Amnon Yitzhak was speaking Monday night in Emmanuel, a West Bank haredi town.
As he spoke, opponents began playing music – presumably music Yitzhak had previously banned.
His followers responded by spraying what Arutz 7 calls "tear gas" at the opponents.
According to Arutz 7, Rabbi Yitzhak stopped his lecture and left because of the riot.

amnon yitzhaq is no rabbi, he is a low class clown, a sham and brings shame on the jewish religion!
i must say that the same is true of the entire 'city' of Immanuel of discrimating schools notoriety, and while we are at it, Elad as well!

he even looks like a mullah.
this is part of his act.
it's an act for fools with -0- substance behind it.
neither him nor his forefathers dressed like this.
he is a big fund raiser and i suspect that he became pretty wealthy in the process.

Was this a real honest to goodness riot? Where are the pictures? Where is the video? Were ambulances called? How many were arrested?
I ask only because when it comes to haredim the term riot is applied to minor skirmishes or disturbances. When it comes to seculars, like university students it is referred to as rumbling or clashing.
I am hoping for some "action" to awaken the silent secular majority to take action against the haredi infestation that is destroying their country from within. So I hope that this isn't some form of exaggeration of a small disturbance.

JC and jancipista - this is traditional yemenite garb. you should not knock it.
this is not to say i have any positive feelings or regard for amnon yitzchak, but it is not his clothes that are the issue, it is the shit his mouth excretes.
Posted by: the usual chaim | January 24, 2011 at 08:41 PM
JC, and jancipista- yeah, Amnon Yitzhak looks like a mullah, and all the Hassidic rebbes look like bearded versions of Polish nobles. Let's have a truce on that.
Actually some of what Amnon Yitzhak says is reasonable, but then he goes off the deep end.

He started off weird - really weird. A BT himself who courted BT audiences, acted like a "guru," with his ginormous knitted kipah, his own one man Na, Nach, band with his own brand of spirituality... But he's been reeled in, on his own. He's a normal Haredi, and I mean that he is among the normal of the Haredim (which are full of weirdos). When he met with R' Steinman to complain about a performer in Miami he displayed incredible lucidity in logic as well as his understanding and acceptance of halacha (while the interlocutor struggled to explain to R' Steinman how a person could manually "distribute" music while he's not performing it, and how the Internet works). He's been tamed - mentally he is normal and rational, but he keeps his old look because it's his gimmick. And we all know that FFBs hate Yohanan-come-latelys, especially when they are doing well. There is an agenda against him, and it's all about money, but he has the requisite knowledge and connections to get an audience with R' Steinman and that speaks volumes. They just don't like where he came from. (I don't listen to music or follow the industry, but I heard about him "back then" and I saw the video with him and Steinman and the change was amazing, and it's easy to gather that A7 would play a role in the insidious character defamation campain that is being launched against a truly reformed and learned ex-weirdo BT.)

I wonder whether anyone who compares Hasidim and Haredim to Polish nobles actually know what Polish nobles looked like. They dressed more colorfully and wore different hats, for starters...

What sort of music did he want banned ?
The protestors probably should not have interrupted his speech, but it depends on how extreme he is in his views and what he is trying to achieve.
Was the song they played, "You've gotta fight for your right to party !" by The Beatie Boys or was it a little klezmer tune ?

I don't get it. I see no stories anywhere about the riot? Google news has nothing. I can't find it on Ynet. Damn!
Posted by: JC | January 25, 2011 at 03:41 AM
JC: It was probably on the radio.

I thought he was here in Switzerland, skiing.
At least he was last week, or the week before...

"There is an agenda against him, and it's all about money,"
You are right. Part of my "agenda against him" has to do with money.
I do not like how he asks 1000 Swiss franks for a bracha (and won't give any if you pay less, as he said when he spoke here in Switzerland), the selling of CD for 100 Franks.
This screems "scammer" to me.
But money is not the only aspect. The other aspect is the way how he shames people in public, how he plays around with people's feelings, how he preys on the weak who hope he will be able to help them.
And of course, he completely discredited himself with his TV-destructions (doesn't this man know it's dangerous to break a TV set?).
So the CD destruction & music ban just confirm that he should not be taken seriously. Or should he be taken seriously and fought by all means?

tv destruction & banning music, is quite common of haredi-dom, particularly among BT's into haredism. we had a sticker here in our shtetle: turn off tv & switch on life.
soso's analysis above is quite accurate.

wow! junksey-piss-ta!
how can u say that? hmmm he is even fluent in yiddish, like your charadick forebears.
well, unless of course we have to consider, that the yiddish speaking, equally charaedi forebears also have the same raving lunatic controled eyes, the same short circuited brains (hmmmm... do they have any? well, at least the shape of that tofu organ) in shorts... well drunk in their own megalomaniacal (sic) thinking...
gee, can't help it, have to repeat it again and again... ad nauseam!

There was no riot. People who hate Amnon Yitzchak came in and began disturbing his lecture, so he walked out.
Who are these peole who hate him?????
People who hate Sfardim. Racists.
Let us not be the ones to help the racists.

they didnt "play" music-they blasted music to drown him out-but, typically, shmarya leaves out the important fax when they dont match his desire to disparage Judyism every day and in every way.

*There was no riot. People who hate Amnon Yitzchak came in and began disturbing his lecture, so he walked out.*
So this is the definition of a haredi riot? I guess a haredi walk around the block would be called running the marathon!

Is he one of the people who was trying to ban Hasidic music?
