Brooklyn D.A.: I Have Never Been Deterred By Anyone Incuding Brooklyn Beit Dins

Charles Hynes "In the 21 years I've served as Brooklyn's District Attorney I have never been deterred by anyone including the various Beth Dins in Brooklyn from fulfilling my responsibilities as the Chief Law Enforcement Official of Kings County."

Brooklyn NY prosecutor responds regarding edict by a Jewish religious court
Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on an e-mail he received from Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes regarding an edict by a rabbinical court in Brooklyn instructing its members not to report crimes to the police.
By William Donohue • Spero News

I am happy to report that Brooklyn D.A. Charles Hynes responded quickly and honestly to my news release on the Beth Din of Crown Heights controversy.

Hynes said, in part, "In the 21 years I've served as Brooklyn's District Attorney I have never been deterred by anyone including the various Beth Dins in Brooklyn from fulfilling my responsibilities as the Chief Law Enforcement Official of Kings County."

He went on to say that "nothing can interfere with my authority to investigate and prosecute any allegation of crime in my County." This is reassuring. I want to make it clear that D.A. Hynes has the support of the Catholic League—we very much appreciate his forthrightness.

Feel free to convey your thanks, as well.

What made him write this? Was he ever deterred by a synod?

Hynes is a pathetic puppet who takes his orders from the frumma.

Donohue is a POS who will defend any criminal who happens to be Catholic, especially if it's a clergyman.

Let him tell all that b.s. to Kolko or Mondrowitz' victims. He'd be a laughed off the stage.

he better not be deterred by anyone, including the crown heights bet din pushers, sending lawyers and intimidating him in MANY DIFFERENT WAYS , including not reelecting him.

in the recent case of the crown height shmira chabad guy who beat up the young black who was riding his bike that night 3 years ago, and who fled to montreal and later to israel .

hynes better get the chabad criminal back to brooklyn ,asap, and throw him to jail right away , before his trial .

no freedom on bond or anything like that .
even if chabad is ready to put millions down to let him free before his trial.

( it's not difficult at all for the cult chabad to post millions on bond. chabad ARE OVERLOADED WITH THOUSANDS OF MILLIONS )

A politician in Brooklyn who is never influenced by a bes din is a politician who is itching for retirement.

Neusner and Lesher published an article in the Journal of Child Sexual Abuse about how Hynes dropped the prosecution of Rabbi Solomon Hafner a Bobover hasid based on input from a beth din (really a kangaroo court- and thus not kosher). http://www.amyneustein.com/pubs/jcsa.article.2008.pdf

Hynes has never provided a satisfactory explanation for why he didn't follow up on the extradition of extradition of Avrohom Mondrowitz. Michael Lesher sued under the NYS Freedom of Information Law (FOIL)and won. But rather than disclose the relevant documents Hynes is forcing Lesher to pursue the claim at higher levels. http://failedmessiah.typepad.com/failed_messiahcom/2009/12/what-is-the-brooklyn-da-hiding-789.html

Neverthless it is good news that the DA is feeling pressure to defend himself against the charge. Mitoch shelo lishmah, bah lismah.

Clarification Re Abuse Lecture
In Rabbi Gershon Tannenbaum's My Machberes column of Dec. 3 http://www.jewishpress.com/pageroute.do/46293), he shared a brief summary of the presentation I gave at the Agudath Israel Convention about protecting children. I need to clarify the very brief statement made, since it can easily be quoted out of context.

This workshop was intended as a health and safety awareness presentation. It was not to address issues of halacha (I am not a posek), politics (I am not a politician), or law (I am not a lawyer). Despite having personal opinions on some of these issues, I do not possess or claim qualification to rule on any of them. There are many poskim who favor reporting any allegations of abuse to authorities immediately. Others differ. My statement about reporting was with regards to immediate danger.

My opinions notwithstanding, there is a halachic issue about whether abuse allegations should involve secular authorities. My consistent response to questions on this is that a halachic authority should be consulted (many of whom urge reporting). The audience at the convention involved people from many locations, so state laws involved also vary, and limiting references to just New York or New Jersey would have also been misleading. Such questions were also handled similarly.

Since the audience was viewed as being comprised of parents, the comments were about how parents could improve safety. There is equally much to say about how our yeshivas and schools could improve safety.

One introductory statement is worth repeating. Molestation is a small part of the greater scope of abuse that challenges the safety of our children. It gets media attention, but is less that 10 percent (according to statistics cited in the workshop). While it should not be minimized, it is unfair to the remainder of abuses to attend only to this.

Crown Heights JCC responds. Including video interview.

The hatred is getting out of hand," Zaki Tamir, Chairman of the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council, said Sunday in a candid and frank conversation with COLlive.com.

He said a "tremendous amount of hatred and animosity" is being caused by a few renegade "hate blogs which are destroying the people. It's killing us."

Voted in by a vast majority last year, Tamir said his administration is "unable to do our jobs as a community and representing a community" due to agenda-driven attacks.
