Neturei Karta Assaults Haredi MKs
Naturei Karta assault Haredi MKs in Jerusalem
MKs beaten, cursed as they emerge from prayers at Mea She'arim synagogue prior to meeting with Slonim rabbi.
By Yair Ettinger • Ha'aretz
United Torah Judaism MKs Moshe Gafni and Uri Maklev were assaulted on Thursday both physically and verbally by extreme ultra-Orthodox members of the Naturei Karta movement in the religious Jerusalem neighborhood of Mea She'arim.
The assault was apparently unrelated to a recent row between the ultra-Orthodox community and Israel's courts over the segregation of Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews at a school in the West Bank settlement of Immanuel.
However, the assault occurred as the two MKs headed to a meeting with the Slonim rabbi of the ultra-Orthodox sect at the center of the segregation affair. The Slonim rabbi has instructed his followers to go to jail rather than allow their Ashkenazi daughters attend the same school as Sephardic girls.According to Gafni's aide, the two men had attended the synagogue in the neighborhood prior to the meeting. The attackers identified the MKs outside the synagogue and "started to beat them to death, gathered around them, cursed them and called out 'Zionists' at them."
The MKs later fled to the rabbi's home.

Hard to believe that a Gafni aide said that to Ha'aretz, especially after he tells this reporter that he has nothing to say to him. Don't see much of that famous hareidi violence either...

All this violence in the Holy City is terrible. It is most upsetting. No human beings should be seeking to inflict violence on another human being at this time. This applies especially to the Jews. The Jews are meant to be a nation of priests. Real "Princes of Peace" will do everything in their power to mitigate the effects of violence. There has to be a divinely mandated command structure in the land. The word of the lord will go forth from Jerusalem if people heed the wisdom of a higher authority. The obstinacy shown by certain supposed leaders of the various Jewish sects at this time in history is unfortunate. A command structure can be worked out but certain people will have to pull their heads in and submit . G-d is watching over the land and is testing everyone. If no-one shows an inclination towards trust building then he will withdraw his guidance and blessings.

They've put themselves outside the walls, outside the protection of Israel.
They believe what Hamas believes. They use terrorism like Hamas uses terrorism. Treat them like Hamas. Destroy their homes. Throw them in prison. Shoot them down like dogs when they riot. Anything else is capitulation.

To Adam Neira. What is this talk of "submitting to a command structure".
I submit to no one -- not a politician, rabbi, brahmin/cohen, or any other charlatan.
You write crazy talk.

I say, lock both sides up in a steel cage, and let them duke it out to the death.

you people are bonkers and the things you are suggesting are even more inhumane than the neturei karts's lynch-squads. Much (albeit not all) of the jewish extremism is a direct result of this community having been allowed to nearly purely self-segregate. in no other western democracy is any group permitted similar lattitude. the simple (ok. not so simple) solution is that the walls must be forcibly broken down by ammending the legal structure that supports them. no stipends, mandatory military service, state-mandated curriculum etc. ... essentially, citizenship may not be a choice; it must be an imperative. the same goes for israeli arabs. until this happens the same BS will forever recur (and will never be fixed by the idiotic violence posters here have suggested)

Where are the arrests? Where are the police? Arrest these terrorists.

Mr Apikoros
I agree with you. Let us take that cage and put them all in it, then send the entire mess to someplace uninhabited, say Siberia or the Gobi Desert. Let them duke it out far away from the civilized world.
I am quickly tiring of Jewish apologists that will find these people faultless because they resemble observant Jews. There is something inherently evil here. Religion does not play any part in this, these are cultish bigoted people who wish to be the face and the controlling voice of world Judaism.

Amen, AK.
When I was frum, I regularly heard rabbis lecture about the mitzvah of Ahavas Yisroel. I'm guessing Haredim are exempt since they pre-peel adhesive tabs on diapers before Shabbos, and chas v'shalom, do not tear toilet paper on Shabbos.
These guys are defending the Torah, so they can violate it.
