Michael Moore Producer Turns To Rubashkin Case
Michael Moore Producer Turns to Brooklyn Meat Case
By Kyle Pope • New York Observer
A documentary producer who has worked extensively with filmmaker Michael Moore is picking up the cause of a Brooklyn-based kosher meatpacking executive now on trial in Iowa.
Meghan O'Hara, nominated for an Oscar for her work with Mr. Moore on the health-care documentary Sicko, said she is sending a film crew to Iowa next week to interview locals and to attend the sentencing by Judge Linda Reade.
The executive, Sholom Rubashkin, faces up to 25 years—an unusually harsh sentence—following a federal raid against his kosher slaughterhouse, Agriprocessors. The F.B.I. raided Agriprocessors in May 2008 and arrested 389 workers who lacked proper documentation. Mr. Rubashkin later was charged with bank fraud. His case has prompted protests from rabbis across the country, who say he is being unfairly treated and faces a sentence that is disproportionate.
Ms. O'Hara, whose company Honest Engine is investigating the case, said while Mr. Rubashkin is "easy to vilify, it's the conflicted characters who are always the most interesting."
In addition to working with Mr. Moore on Sicko, she also has served as a producer on Bowling for Columbine and Fahrenheit 911.
If you think this movie will be favorable for the Meat Messiah, you are making a big mistake.

I have a name for the flick. "Cheating for lower cut steaks" or "Prarie Oysters and Bank Fraud".

I think Mr Magoo should be cast the leading role of Sholom Rubashkin.
Afterall, Mr. Magoo 'is' a wealthy man, who gets into a series of sticky situations as a result of his nearsightedness, compounded by his stubborn refusal to admit the problem.

An added note . . .
Mr. Magoo would need to grow a beard though.

i don't put a thing past this sect, having heard jon voight singing their praise in a telethon.
but then lilywhite aryan voight is known himself to be as rabid a racist as they are with his pronouncements on obama.

Michael Moore is a known hater of Israel.

The best scenes will be where they interview actual Jews (like say me) who point out that we feel chabad is a gentile cult.
The second best part will be the interviews of NYC women going on about being sexually harrassed by Hasids on the subway.

This film will be an indictment of Judaism and Shechita as a whole. If you think they will go after Rubashkin, after chassidim, and not after Jews as a whole you are like the assimilated Jews in Germany who thought themselves to be safe from Nazism.
They will edit out anything that distances chassidim from mainstream Judaism.

Nah just because a gay german named adolf confused us with hasidim doesn't mean we need to live by this definition.
I've run this idea by many old guys who escaped from europe and they all agree with me.
"Mainstream Judaism" is atheism and this movie will help others to see that people who support superstitious butchering ain't the same as normal American Jews.

I agree with you, but I still blame all the orthodox institutions, for pushing away every other Jew, but one of them. Who is in the forefront of the, "who is a Jew" questions. When it comes to that question, the orthodox don’t want us to be part of their group, but in the minute when they see a benefit, like our money and support, they love us. Think twice before you throw out the assimilated Jew story. Finally during the war these Polish apikorsim were the ones, who fought and helped the orthodox to go on.

And I heard that they will be using key grips from Schindler's List and fluffers from Debbie Does Dallas.
Should be interesting, to say the least.

The case of Rabbi Sholom Rubashkin is not the first attempt by the Maskilim to destroy Judaism. It is the self-hate that destroys the Maskilims and those around them. It is in a sense very sad.
Way to go Morris! I bet all the new found "power" is making you feel like a big man now.

All Jews look alike to antisemites. In one of his better scenes in Annie Hall, Woody Allen (no, I don't like the step-incestuous daughter molester either), shows what Annie's grandmother sees every time she looks at the lobster eating, assimilated Alvie. She sees a payot and beard wearing black garbed chasid.
No matter how assimilated you get, that is how the antisemites see you.
Strangely enough, they picture Jewish women in beards and payot too!!

Me and my family are not "assimilated".
We have no connection to the Hasidic sects. The sidelock thing ain't something mainstream Jews ever rocked. Ditto for the wig crap and stocking fetish and esp for the never shake hands with a woman schtick.
Sorry dude but you were never part of "us" and I will sure as hell be the first to mock anyone who says torah is moral or that the bablyonian 7th day thing is supernaturally mandated.

This is a disaster in the making.

Dr.Dave: You post of 6/19 11:28 are right on. This is why behavior like "Sham Wow" and the rest is so disturbing.
WoolSilky: I like SMR new name "Meat Messiah"

To all the father out there in FM cyberspace...HAPPY FATHER'S DAYS GUYS!!

I barely knew who Michael Moore was until I watched Sicko. He is a propagandist extraordinaire without any ethical motivation to present the truth whatsoever. He is bad news for the SMR and bad news for Rubash-in opponents. When the truth becomes a negligible factor in documentary film making, the consumer is in grave trouble.
I see no good in this and I realize that it is most likely a very handy vehicle for the Hollywood "intelligentsia" to weigh in on the "horrors" of Arizona's immigration policies and the wonders yet to unfold from Obama ("got socialism?") in response. I doubt they care at all about the animals and they probably aren't thinking much about Jews. They want to push a liberal agenda on immigration reform.

Thanks Libby, and a Happy Father's Day to all who qualify!

Dr. Dave -
You decry the very thought of anti-semitism with your statement. Ironically, you also embody it at the same time. Blind prejudice knows no bounds, does it!

Look up this same story on collive.com. I think they fixed the immodest bodice on the photo!
Posted by: neighbor girl | June 20, 2010 at 11:33 AM
Its not "fixing" the immodest bodice its making it "homocompliant" so as not to offend the gay chabad men who can't stand the sight nor slightest touch of women.
Posted by: NotHarold | June 20, 2010 at 11:46 AM
SOP II you make no sense. Explain yourself

Dr. Dave -
Your statement was made with the same kind of prejudice you claim is being exhibited by anti-semites. It's as if you are referring to two types of people - Jews and anti-semites.
