Minister Yishai attacked by Neturi Karta members while arriving for condolence visit at Rabbi Elyashiv's home; he escapes unharmed
Ynet reporters
Interior Minister Eli Yishai was pelted with stones on Monday as he arrived at the Mea Shearim neighborhood in Jerusalem for a condolence visit at the home of Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv.
A group of Neturei Karta members, known for their radical opinions against Israel and Zionism, began chanting at the Shas chairman, "Shegetz" (non-Jewish boy) and "Zionist". Some punctured the tires of his car and hurled stones at him. The minister escaped unharmed and hid in the rabbi's yard.
Police forces were dispatched to the area to disperse the crowd.
Rabbi Elyashiv is the paramount leader of the Lithuanian haredi community. He is considered a prominent figure in the ultra-Orthodox world and has recently celebrated his 100 birthday.
The haredi violence in Jerusalem began on Monday afternoon after some 80 ultra-Orthodox men were arrested in Jaffa for disrupting construction works on Andromeda Hill.
Dozens of haredi men rioted near Shabbat Square in protest of the arrest of a senior Eda Haredit member in Jaffa. The protestors blocked Bar-Ilan Road, punctured the wheels of buses, set fire to garbage dumpsters and called on the police to arrest the man immediately.

I'm totally confused. Are they Haredim or Nateuri Karta that have been rioting all along? I would definitely distinguish between them, but it appears that YNet does not.

"Rabbi Elyashiv ... has recently celebrated his 100th birthday."
My invitation must have gotten lost in the mail.
Wool, Maskil, HaNavon, Apikores ... did you guys get yours?

No Bill, strangely I didn't get mine either. Maybe the charedim broke into the mailroom and took it out.

I didn't get my invitation either. The nut cases must've burned down the post office since it's run by the Israeli government.

Sarah,
You know you and I wouldn't get an invitation! We are women and, therefore, beneath contempt--unless we are having children and supporting the family with no education because, as you know, education for women is assur!

Michelle, education is assur for women because inevitably you will use it to figure out how to circumvent rules on sexuality. It's because women aren't as smart as men, which makes them only driven by sex...which is why we men aren't supposed to have sex with you too often and we have to discourage you from autoerotica and we must refrain from most kinds of foreplay, so that the women don't become too sexual!

Bill, I thought that envelope was another appeal for a donation, so I threw it away without opening it.
I'll pick up one of those Hallmark 'Happy 100th Birthday' cards and maybe put in a nice check. Or maybe not.

Mine must have been misdelivered. I suspect they sent it to the Eagle's Nest in Berchtesgaden, Germany.
