Rubashkin Allegedly Bribed Postville Mayor, Report Says
…The presentence report suggests that the Court depart or vary upward based on Mr. Rubashkin's other alleged criminal conduct. In particular, the probation officer has referenced an allegation that Agriprocessors bribed Robert Penrod, the former mayor of Postville. The probation officer's characterization of the conduct is inaccurate, and in fact, the conduct does not support either an upward departure or variance.

Penrod suggested to Sholom that if the loan was not extended, the city council would make things very difficult for Agriprocessors.

see thread above.
The now ex-mayor took a trip to England to investigate kosher slaughter. Who paid for the trip? Was it declared on his taxes? If he wanted to investigate kosher slaughter, why go all the way to England? Why not go to facilities in Colorado, Minnesota, Illinois, Maryland or Kansas?
According to this article, Penrod may have been extorting $ from Rubashkin. Amar may have extorted $ from undocumented workers. Everyone had a hand in someone else's pocket. Quite a daisy-chain.
