Members of the Monsey based Bais Din investigating the charges against Leib Tropper has been receiving a series of threatening phone calls from people. The threats have ranged from threats of utterly destroying the Rabbis to getting people to pray for the downfall and destruction of the Rabbis involved in the investigation. 

The threat campaign actually began on Sunday. One of the Rabbonim was actually visited by an individual who made veiled threats against that Rav. Phone messages were left on the machine of another one of the Rabbonim. This time the threats were not veiled and more explicit. 

Thankfully, the Rabbis are not being intimidated and are moving forward. 

The threats came after a series of interviews were granted that discussed the investigation. We will soon post the audio of some of the threatening phone calls. The part with the actual pysical threats was not recorded. The threats that were taped involved seeking the destruction of the Rabbis investigating through prayer.

The people who are threatening can not be from Tropper. Is it possible that there are more people involved? Is it possible that the Tropper is a small fish in this haredi crime family?

If the Rabbis were investigating "through prayer" then I'm on board as well with seeking their destruction. However, if there are rabbis investigating and threats were made seeking the destruction of said rabbis via prayer then I'm wondering what the story here actually is. People who pray will pray for the destruction of others on a regular basis - it's in most liturgy - but that doesn't make news.

If that was their plan they they wouldn't be receiving threats. Obviously there are people that feel that they will be doing the right thing.

We don't know the content of those phone calls yet. They could be from people who expect the Beit Din to cover up Tropper, or as you say, indict him. Don't assume it's because they're doing the right thing, though.

It's silly to threaten them with violence. Just threaten to refuse their children entry to cheder and refuse to "do shidduchim" with them. That should be sufficient.

I have no love for the satmar, but i think in this case, based on my conversation with the guy, that he is completely innocent. Sometimes even satmar are innocent.

Interesting. I wonder, which is the investigative beit din here? Who are the dayanim involved?

Through prayer? What a joke.....GD answers rodifim? Excellent .. i once had 600 fundamentalist prayer every friday nite for my death. I am still waiting... Troppers troubles are just beginning but in the end he will back in the saddle again That is the charedi world corrupt to the core. No one there in leadership but power hungry cult leaders and people who are good regular folks living in fear.

But the Gemorra does say they are going down in the end. Not all that comforting as we wait. Meanwhile time to step up to the plate. Plan something from people who are mkurev to the last generation who made in many cases terrible errors in judgment in appointing their successors.

Given a year and half stay tuned. Someone of well known note is going to resurface and was very close to a goodly number of Rebbes and Roshei Yeshivos.

Ought to be very interesting and said Rav has let's say major cojones. He will send shock waves and create big time confusion for the good. He is not an academic but Rebbe.
