The Jerusalem Police on Sunday arrested Yoel Kreus, the "operations officer" of the Eda Haredit, a staunchly anti-Zionist haredi communal organization, for allegedly assaulting a woman in the Meah Shearim neighborhood after she refused to cross the street at his command.

A spokesman for Eda Haredit said "Rabbi Kreus never laid a hand on anyone."

According to initial investigation, Kreus spotted the woman walking on one of the neighborhood's streets and instructed her to cross over to another street.

When she refused, he allegedly assaulted her, spraying her with mace. The woman did not require medical attention and called the police.

The officers who arrived at the scene promptly arrested Kreus, who reportedly implicated himself in the incident.

Eda Haredit sources slammed the arrest. Kreus is a prominent figure in the community and according to the community's spokesman, Rabbi Shmuel Pappenheim, "The police are burning their last few bridges with the haredi community."

Many within Eda Haredit speculated that the arrest was actually a form of retribution for the latest haredi riots in the capital.

"Rabbi Kreus spoke against several things lately, so it is possible that is why the police did this, although I certainly hope that is not true," Pappenheim said.

"Naturally, once a complaint is filed an investigation is in order, but the arrest was wrong. This is an Eda officer, a major activist in the community, who is all of a sudden suspected of an act he couldn’t have possibly committed.

"Rabbi Kreus never laid a hand on anyone and has never taken part in any violent act whatsoever."

The present Hebrew script came into being when the 2nd Temple was being built. The Mount Sinai script sorta looked like the old Phoenician script.

i play the keyboard and piano. i used to play the trumpet and trombone until about a year ago when i gave away my trumprt and trombone because pressing the mouthpieces against my aged teeth and gums began to hurt my aged gums. now because of the fact that i have severe gum disease and only 14 teeth left, if is very difficult and painful for me to blow shofar. i used to be an expert shofar blower. i never tried playing claranet or saxaphone.

yoelish kraus accomphished alot by getting arrested. he accomplished getting the first page of comments on this story to fill up in a mere 17 hours and 5 minutes. yeshar koach reb yoilish for your good work in protecting haredi values. this does not necesarilly mean that i agree with reb yoilish spraying pepper spray on this woman, but i understand why he did it. haredim have had it up to ---- with the way that the chiloni lechachasniks have been treating haredim and the way that the evil zionist nazi gestapo stormtrooper government and their nazi gestapo stormtrooper jerusalem pigs have been treating haredim for the last 61 years since they started their treife medina.

i had a conversation with a new york city police officer today about how what yoilish kraus did would be handled by the new york city police department if it would have happened in new york instead of jerusalem. the new york city police department would have asked the woman to file a complaint and request a warrent for yoelish kraus's arrest for assaulting the woman with pepper spray. when the police would find yoilish kraus they would take him to a police station to take his fingerprints and pictures of him and issue him a desk appearance ticket that would lead to a warrent for his arrest if he didnt show up in court and they would certainly not keep him in jail overnight or put him under house arrest or order him to leave his home and family and city of residence for 10 days.

i wonder what would have happened in jerusalem if yoilish kraus would have been secular instead of haredi and would have sprayed pepper spray at somebody who was disobeying his directions to the crowd that he was giving the crowd as an usher at a secular event. would he have been treated the way that the new york city police would have treated the case or would he have been treated the way the jerusalem police treated him?

when i was studying the subject of israeli medical malpractice in preparation for writing my blog on the subject, i came accross a news story on the internet about a secular doctor whose family and psychiatrist had him go to a mental hospital to be treated for my depression. since this doctor was secular instead of haredi, the staff at the mental hospital treated him nicely and instead of locking him up in the psych ward, which they would have done to him if he would have been religious, they let him freely roam the grounds of the hospital and he used his freedom to set himself on fire and commit suicide, and his family made a medical malpractice lawsuit against the mental hospital for giving him too much freedom and not enough supervision at the mental hospital.

If this happened in NYC, Yoilish Krauss would have been given more than a summons. He would, at the least, been booked on the spot, and would have gone to jail until he was processed through the system (typically a day) and posted bond.

It would have been considered assault with a deadly weapon, a felony, and would have been plea-bargained down to simple assault, a misdemeanor. In any case, he would have spent the night in the can at a minimum, and upon conviction would have had to pay a hefty fine and done community service. He would not have been given a conditional discharge any more than Plaxico Burress would have.
