Whole Foods Markets To Carry New Line Of OU Kosher Poultry
New Line of Kosher Poultry Products Available at Whole Foods Market(R) Just in Time for Jewish High Holy Days
AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Whole Foods Market, the
leading natural and organic foods supermarket, offers a new line of certified
kosher chicken and turkey that is now available at select U.S. locations just
in time for the Jewish High Holy Days."Interest in kosher meat continues to grow," said Theo Weening, global meat
buyer for Whole Foods Market. "We're excited to be able to offer a variety of
superior chicken and turkey products to our customers for Rosh Hashana and Yom
Kippur."The products are provided by Kosher Valley(TM), a new certified kosher brand
from Hain Celestial Group (Hain Pure Protein), and are certified by Rabbi
Yechiel Babad and the Orthodox Union. Kosher Valley's antibiotic-free kosher
line is one of the first of its kind in the United States.According to Kosher Valley, many steps in kosher poultry processing are still
performed by hand. Specially trained rabbinical inspectors check each bird
ensuring that it is of the highest quality and processed in accordance with
the kosher standards of cleanliness, purity and wholesomeness. All Kosher
Valley poultry is hand-salted, inside and out, to remove blood since meat with
blood in it is considered non-kosher. After salting, each bird is soaked three
times in icy water to thoroughly cleanse the bird and remove the salt.Like all meat sold at Whole Foods Market, the new Kosher Valley products must
meet the Company's strict animal welfare standards which require that all
poultry offered in its stores comes from animals that are raised on a
vegetarian diet with no antibiotics or added hormones.*Kosher Valley poultry products now available at Whole Foods Market include
fresh and frozen whole young turkeys, ground turkey, fresh and frozen chicken,
and tray packs of both turkey and chicken.*Federal regulations prohibit the use of hormones in raising poultry.
They already have these at the Whole Foods in NJ. Prices are comparable to Empire, about 6.99/lb for chicken breast boneless. Excellent quality, well trimmed, almost no fat. (The opposite of Rubashkin, which has the most fat and cartilage still on.) A lot cheaper than Wise, which was 10.99/lb.

Shmarya - with all due respect. Your site has become a mirror for VIN.
You're just taking stories from there.
Where is all the breakthrough stuff you used to post?
This stuff can be found EVERYWHERE.
Yawn.
I used to check in several times a day.
Now we are down to several times a week.
Soon, it will be several times a month.
This stuff is getting old.
Your news is getting cold.

anon –
With absolutely no respect let me point out that I broke literally 4 stories in the past 10 ten days, one of which was picked up by national media.
During that time I also posted two podcast interviews.
This story is a press release. I published it as such, clearly labeled.
Matzav.com published it as their own reporting, changing High Holidays to its Hebrew term and making another similar change.
I didn't see VIN's version of this story but I'll look now.
As for you, if you don't like it here, leave.

I checked VIN's post.
It is time stamped 4:15 pm (EDT).
My post is times stamped 2:40 pm (CDT) and the first comment is left at 3:13 (CDT).
IN OTHER WORDS, I BEAT VIN ON THIS BY 35 MINUTES.
Haul your disgusting troll butt out of here and never come back.

Just so everyone can see what anon is, here is a screenshot of VIN's post.
You can see the time stamp clearly:

I don't in any way mean this to denigrate VIN, which does sometimes beat me on stories, just as I sometimes beat them.
I'm only posting it to show what an unmitigated troll anon is.
Don't let the blog hit you on your ass, anon, as you scurry back to your fetid hole.

Genesis tells us that -d gave man the grains, fruits and seedsa f the field to eat. Modern science continues to reveal the pernicious health consequences of meat eating. Anatomical analysis of the human body shows a physiology of vegetarians (e.g. long intestines in humans consonant with vegetarian animals and not short intestines like carivores).
Maybe we should go back to the diet G-D initially commanded.

Hmmm, my post never showed up. Let me try splitting it up.
This story goes back to at least 2004. Hain Celestial announced they were buying the family-owned Plainville Turkey Farm in Plainville, NY back in August 2007. The announcement to start Kosher production in Plainville was made on December 1, 2008. Plainville (non-kosher) turkeys had a very good reputation in Central New York, and locals lamented the sale. I don't know if production of turkeys returned to Plainville from New Oxford, PA after the conversion.
Some stories from over the years. An op-ed piece from the president of Plainville from 2004:

is there any info anywhere on which WF branches will carry these products?

1)Mordechai, I agree with you and I am also in the transition to become a full vegetarian; however, I do understand how many people just cannot hang with a vegetarian regiment. I also think that it is really cool that Whole Foods will finally carry Kosher meats.
2)Shmarya do not let Anon ruin your day, your blog gives great information and it exposes many ultra & Modern orthodox scandolous secrets that would otherwise go unknown in secular society. Your blog contains very important information and I enjoy reading it.
