Friends, It is 100% legal to have "Donor advised" charities. Fideluty even has a donor advosed charitable investment account. when you put money in it is tax deductable and ONLY you can direct where the money goes! (it needs to be 501 c 3)

so if the fund that receives the gis 501 c 3 and it is set up to give out charity money and does not make any profits, then the donor can advise that it is to help SMR even if you don;t think it is a worthy cause it is 100% legal. As long as its a charitable non-profit. Also the NFP corp is allowed to pay salaries f it chooses to its employees. I don;t think anyone should be so down on the Haredi NFP's before they research some of the secular ones like for example....Best Western Corp! the hotel chain or Blue cross blue sheild......!

The only thing that concerns me is if the IRS would consider paying the legal bills of someone charged with criminal activity a charity. Lets say no one in Crown Heights or Borough Park is moved by this cause except for members of the defendent's family. They will probably give him money for his legal bills anyway.
