BREAKING! Agriprocessors Sale Stopped By "Technicality"

Trustee says sale could proceed Thursday.

Technicality holds up sale of Iowa slaughterhouse

POSTVILLE, Iowa (AP) - A technicality has held up the sale of a struggling kosher slaughterhouse in northeast Iowa, but the trustee charged with overseeing the plant is confident the sale will be completed soon.

Agriprocessors, Inc. bankruptcy trustee Joe Sarachek says a technical issue concerning the way the sale was drawn up stopped Judge Paul J. Kilburg from approving the sale Wednesday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Cedar Rapids. But Sarachek says a new agreement could be submitted to Kilburg by Thursday.

The $8.5 million sale of the Agriprocessors plant in Postville to SHF Industries would end months of uncertainty for the town of Postville, which has endured a series of setbacks that began with a huge immigration raid at the plant last year.

Is the AG going to do an independent investigation as to claims made by the Sarachek documents?

If not, Postville and its Citizens may be in for a big nightmare surprise.

1. Mr. Friedman is only a front man and is not part of SHF ownership. This was revealed to us, in a previous post on this blog.

2. So we have secret owners of SHF trying to by a slaughter facility, in a town, basically ruined, by the previous criminal owners.

3. To help allay the fears of the Postville Citizens, these secret potential owners should make themselves publically known, unless of course, they are AR and SMR.

4. There's little that can be done to Uncle Joe, unless there is compelling evidence that he has committed criminal acts.

People like Joe Sarachek usually file in bankruptcy courts near their offices because their clients are located near their offices. This job started out in the Eastern District of NY, i.e. Brooklyn, but got transferred to Iowa. This is probably Sarachek's first job in the northern district of Iowa. His stock forms (on WordPerfect or Word) may not be the way the northern district of Iowa bankruptcy court wants them. Or he just screwed up.

As for the secrecy, there are two sides to this. The first is the side that does business with Agri and/or extends credit, trade or otherwise. The other side is the marketing of the product. As it stands right now, the successful bidder gets the Rubshkin trademarks. He can sell pork and veal bratwurst under that trademark ("Try new Rubaskin's Beer Brats, made with Miller Beer.") He may want consumers to think they are buying meat from Rubashkin. Think there still is a F&M Schaefer Company brewing Schaefer beer? Try SABC/Miller contract brewing it for Pabst.

Did anyone else see the Tuesday night episode of "Amazing Grace" on TNT? The plot involved beef cattle hijacked and killed on their way to a kosher packing plant owned by "Aaron and Sons". Detectives investigated the possible murder of a retired kosher meat inspector. He claimed the meat from the plant wasn't kosher. The plant owner was arrested. I watched closely, but I didn't see any vodka or Mountain Dew.
