Postville Anniversary Video
What is the lesson of Postville?
Two longer, better videos are posted on MinnPost.com: Part 1, Part 2.
Illegal workers are paid less and exploited more – much more than legal workers. They drive down wages because they have no legal recourse to fight exploitation. This hurts legal and illegal workers both.
The story of Postville is that exploitation, and the government's decision to treat the illegal workers as criminals while ignoring the abuse and exploitation they suffered.
Of course, making all illegal workers legal would solve most of the exploitation and abuse problem.
But even without that change, the exploitation and abuse is the story, as is failure of the United States Government to do anything about it.
Next time, march on the US Attorney's office and demand civil rights enforcement.

Posting a parade containing hard-core indicted criminal elements would show a great dis-honor to all those whose lives have been overturned by the RCF.
