Evictions On Hold Until Next Week
Two Postville landlords…
…GAL Investments and Trevor Siebert have both agreed to put off any evictions until next week.
I'm told the mayor, pushed in part by reports published here and by pending reports in Iowa's dailies, called landlords on Sunday and asked for a week to work things out.
I also believe the state's point man on Postville, Ralph Rosenberg, may have been involved, as well.
I heard that the reason Shmarya never got married was because he never did a Dor Yesharim test and the Rubashkin daughters were too scared of tay-sachs to date him.

...and your comment has to do with what?
What a moron!

[Shmarya never got married]
Why does this bother people. Perhaps, Shmarya chose not to marry. His personal choices are not the concern of the general public.
I think the poster is, most likely, suffering from Cranial-Rectal Inversion--the act of having your head up your ass.
What do you think SOP2?

The poster at 1:48 pm is being juvenile but there is something to be said about Shmarya's non-Agri related items. It takes a special kind of person to be trolling the internet in his underwear at 3 am to find something to make his own people look bad. There are issues that he is correct to publicize but his motivations are more sour grapes than pure and he often twists things out of context to fit his biased agenda.
In an interview he once blamed the Chabad movement for his remaining a bachelor which is why that theme comes up so often with many of his critics.

I can neither confirm nor deny that statement.

Archie:
With all your postings, my guess is that you also troll the internet at 3:00AM in your underwear!!
What's wrong with being single? You heard the old adage about why men die before their wives? They want to...

State of Postville 2:
It would be quite shocking to witness.

Nachos, the postings are time stamped.
Shmarya has posted at that G-d forsaken hour but I have not.
This blog is a case study in dysfunctionality.

chabad is reporting that they have formed a new "committee" to deal with the rubashkin situation. its a who's who of chabad.
they seem to be roping in young israel and agudah as well.
and of course, the constant drone of the meat "shortage"
at least they are now being upfront about being all about helping the rubashkins, and not just jewish prisoners in general.

Interesting that Shmarya & his sympathizers are trying to convince everyone of the merits of secularism and guilt by association with the orthodox.
Here you have Madoff who isn't even affiliated with any temple.
What would that then tell us about secularism?

After feasting at the high rent table the landlords refering to their "delicate condition" want a bail out. With the housing assistance offered by the state folks can find housing. It may be in another community. I doubt that with the current economic conditions that the landlords will find tenants waiting to pay their rents. As I said before, its not about the tenants its about using them as a pawn to get more money for the landlords. With a bunch of open units on the market, rents will be forced down. Perhaps the landlords will lose properties to foreclosure. From what I have read about the rents charged, and the condition of the units, I wouldn't lose any sleep over that.

I have a couple of questions?
1) Haven't funds already been dispersed through the state grant?
2) Where did the $700,000 go? Who received what? I think taxpayers and the state of Iowa should and have a right to know where the funds went. It should be published in either the local or regional papers. We all need to be on the same page and this would eliminate any shady deals on the side.
3) If the funds have been given out, how can ANY landlord evict residents from their homes?
4) Isn't there a timeframe along with winter conditions as part of an eviction notice?
I'm mostly talking about the $700,000. Obviously all of this has already been spent. If this is true the landlords should have already gotten a piece of that pot already.
I just get an UNEASY feeling about all this eviction threats coming from this town. I also question the honesty and legal boundaries associated with this. Is this just ANOTHER PLOY OF GREEDINESS AND SCARE TACTICS, it just might backfire. The state does not owe this town a single dime. HUD is a national program that is responsible for all kinds of housing for people in the US. I'm sure they don't care about a few greedy landlords in Iowa vs. the country. They have guidelines for their money dispersal. If the landlords are price gouging in this area, too bad! Nobody cares. Honestly people are probably gettng pretty tired of hearing about our problems. After so long they tune it out. If you don't believe me, about a week ago the Gazette had a story about Parkersburg and Postville, remember "Hometown to Hope". Read the blogs. People were outraged! They wanted to know how you could compare a town which was lost everything to natural disaster vs. a town which is in the process of losing everything from a manmade diaster. How can this town be in the news on a daily basis? People are sick of it in Postville and especially throughout the state!
Kindness and generosity only go so far. What would this town have done without the churches? They have been a pilar for the community trying to address the basic needs. How much longer can they do this before their funds are exhausted? How many parishoners have these churches lost because the parish has had enough. Just listen to people in the stores and I think you'll find there have been alot, Lutheran and Catholic. The community has other obligations which they need to address. We can't be the saviors for Agriprocessors or their ex-employees. It's time everyone moves on. If it isn't working than people need to take their own initatives to try something else. The taxpayers have clothed, fed, paid utilities, paid rent and helped alot move on. If the ones left here didn't want to go before well, they had their chance. Everyone tried to tell them. The Jewish community was even helped. What do we get in return, now they say our courts are unjust! They forget who put them in the situation they are in! Now they are telling the world they are being discriminated because of their religion!! Unreal...
I'm sure their are many business, farmers, feed companies and sale barns which have lost money due to this corrupt company. It just isn't the landlords, whom over extended themselves in the first place. GREED!!!!!!!!!!!!
It used to be a hand shake and a verbal conversation is all you needed to run a business. Them days are gone. The plant will never survive even under new management, because everyone knows that once you lose your integrity and ethics your done in Iowa.

The time stamp on my postings are always an hour or so earlier than my time. I guess they're on midwest time.
Maybe Shmarya's an insomniac.

I just want to add:
Postville has been told for months that the town needs Agri.
The truth is Agri needs Postville. Where else would a town gatter to them? They do no employ many from this town. They employ immigrants they brought in from 3rd world countries to support a few greedy landlords. The people whom had contact with them would be happy to just get the money owed them. I'm talking about the feed mills, vets, banks and farmers. This town used to be a great town before we dealt with Agri. As long as the Rubushkins can have the local and national media on them they like it. Poor Poor ME! Without the media they are nothing and they know it. There are alot of business and factories in this town, not just Agri! Postville it's time to move on and let the management of Agri move on.
