Haredim Allege Kosher Gym Treife
I'm posting this story for one primary reason.…
…This pic:
The rest of the story is same old, same old. A gym marketed to haredim is sold to a non-Jewish company. The gym will stop following haredi modesty laws (and some real Orthodox halakha, as well), although the sexes will still be segregated.
Haredim are pissed off, and rightly so – the gym won't refund their money or let them out of their long-term contracts.
And haredim also allege the gym charged them for classes markets as free to members.
The former owner's reaction to this controversy is newsworthy, though – even though it, too, is same old, same old:
…Unfortunately the situation has gotten out of control. Blogs are “popping up” all over with all kinds of allegations about Kosher Gym’s business practices. There is a massive Chillul HaShem going on by people alleging all types of things about the gym and its’ shareholders.
It’s a Chillul HaShem because they are saying for all to see (including the non religious, and non-Jews) that a place called Kosher Gym, run by religious Jews are a bunch of crooks, and other types of slurs and allegations.…
Effective immediately, we are removing any comments on our blog as it is Chillul HaShem.…
That's right. The former owners of Kosher Gym are "protecting" God's honor by muzzling dissatisfied customers and customers who claim to have been defrauded.
And that is same old, same old in haredi-land.
Chaptzem.

What about the pic?
Yawn....

Chaptzem has been on top of this story for quite some time, for example: http://chaptzem.blogspot.com/2008/07/chaptzem-blog-reader-assemblyman-dov.html#comments

That is because Chaptzem actually comes up with some original stuff.

Why are they rightfully pissed? Unless their contract guaranteed that the gym would be owned by observant jews, I don't see what right they have to complain if the gym is sold so long as the gym will continue to be separate and continue to be run in accordance with Orthodox halacha.

That would be why I – gasp! – linked to Chaptzem in my post.

Reread the post.

Can you tell me what connection Yated Neeman has with The Star-K Joseph Tendler and Ner Israel
that they would run advertisements for them .
They are being investigated by several Government agencies
and if justice is served through shluchim then the result will be bigger than Madoff and Rubashkin together.
If no shluchim are "authorized" then look to see Gemara Nedarim in action.
Please advise is this just typical advertising money or is this a media spin to generate the backing of the Am Ha'aratzimamong us who don't know ?

The picture ran with the original story on Gothamist.
You don't have any real complaint, mind you. But if you do want to complain, go there.

The so-called 'kosher' gym is not kosher anyway. If in any doubt about this, read "Eternal Treblinka" by Charles Patterson. Believed by many to be a masterpiece and the best, most important and most powerful book ever written about the abuse of power and the Holocaust, it also has a powerful message about the real meaning of the word kosher.
