BREAKING! Second Agriprocessors' Supervisor Pleads Guilty
Details:
2nd Agriprocessors supervisor pleads guilty
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A second supervisor arrested after a massive immigration raid at the Agriprocessors Inc. plant in Postville has pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting the harboring of undocumented immigrants.
Martin De La Rosa-Loera appeared in federal court on Wednesday in Cedar Rapids. He was arrested in July following a raid at the kosher meatpacking plant two months earlier.
Federal officials say that 43-year-old De La Rosa-Loera assisted others in harboring illegal immigrants.
Last week, another supervisor at the plant, Juan Carlos Guerrero-Espinoza, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to hire illegal immigrants and one count of aiding and abetting the hiring of illegal immigrants.
A sentencing date for De La Rosa-Loera wasn't immediately scheduled. He faces a maximum of 5 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.…
Any plea deal?

There was a plea deal in secret which is why the charges against him were under seal.

Steve, be careful what you say or Nat Lewin might have to jump off his leather armchair again to attack Yogi Berra, the author of that fat lady line.

when the indictments against rubashkin are handed down, one wonders if the Attorney General who is an orthodox jew will be present at the press conference; and if so, will the rubashkins continue to attribute to this anti-semitism and anti-shechita.

-- will the rubashkins continue to attribute to this anti-semitism and anti-shechita --
If they can talk about their "happy employees" with a straight face, they can say just about anything.
If they convince themselves that Mukasey is a self-hater, or isn't Orthodox enough, or has sold out to the secular world, or some combination of all three, then it won't be hard for them to keep crying anti-semitism.

Hmm. I wonder what your agenda is (rather, i don't; i know what it is). Was the AG present at Enron's CEO's post-indictments press conference? I don't think so. Why should he be here. What is this some terrorism charge? Go get a life and be a more wise wonderer.

++What is this some terrorism charge?++
Actually Sam, yes, this is some kind of terrorism charge. Terrorism perpetrated against the kosher consumer but people pretending to be righteous.

Either you don't know the definition of terrorism or you share a similar agenda with craig. Or both.

A community gets exactly the kind of leadership it deserves. We grant power to corrupt amoral people who call themselves our 'rabbinical leaders'. A family of convicted felons runs a meat company, and everyone trusts their products. Child molesters are given carte blanche by a community that can't bring itself to speak out.
We have no one to blame but ourselves. Vote with your feet or your wallet. Don't attend a shul with a spineless rabbi. Stop donating to rabbis and shuls that cover for criminals.

Sam can keep pontificating all he wants in defense of Rubashkin with all the other clowns like Lewin, Genack, Lerner and company. Just do us a favor and stay on the ship when it goes down.

Regarding:"""A family of convicted felons runs a meat company,"""
No no no! The felon part of the family has nothing to do with the Iowa operation-that part is back in New York.
ALL my posts regarding Rubashkin have been against them, so do not think I an even for them-But I stick to the truth.

++A family of convicted felons runs a meat company, and everyone trusts their products.++
You have been corrected on this multiple times - yet you continue to spew it.
The Rubashkins who are convicted felons are in New York - they have nothing to do with the plant.
Any reason why?
The truth WILL win out - and Agriprocessors WILL be made to pay for whatever crimes the company has committed. There is no reason for lies.

Regarding:"""Any reason why?"""
One who keeps repeating lies might get called, AGENT PROVOCATEUR! Or also known as a 'false flag' operation.
I ran a Kahane group for two years and these two guys showed up for meetings-seemed out of place (I will not disclose why) We were 100.00% legal. I even got interviewed by the FBI and I was asked what I would do if someone advocated violence my answer " I would kick them out as I would assume they are AGENT PROVOCATEURS" True enough some Kahane or JDL groups got STUNG badly by AGENT PROVOCATEURS.

im curious...why arent these guys singing and getting immunity?
is rubashkin paying them off to take guilty pleas?
Posted by: uncle joe mccarthy | August 28, 2008 at 04:35 AM
Uncle Joe - The crimes committed by these two low-level supervisors were serious enough to not warrant immunity. However, the plea bargain set up for Guerro-Espinosa was writen to include some very important wording for future charges for his bosses - "...conspiring with his employer to hire and employ illegal workers."
The plea bargain for De la Rosa - Loero was sealed, but he pleaded guilty to charge of "harboring", which may also implicate his bosses.
They are singing...loudly!

Archie, has your hateful comments turned you into a hateful person or has the hateful person caused you to post hateful comments? Something makes me think it's the latter...and...i'm not surprised...keep spewing hate and see how far it gets you.

They will get probation. Maybe a small fine. Not more.

Sam,
the "hate" smear is one of the lame tactics that you Rubashkin shills are trying to employ, but it's not working.
The organizational lowlives who profit from Rubashkin are putting their own $elfi$h intere$t$ ahead of the public good that they purport to advocate for.

Sounds like there were more than the 57 minors at Agri than the Feds are aware of.

Agriprocessors will discover what Smithfield Foods learned when it tried to hire prisoners from the local jail to work in its hog plants in 2000 and they quit.
Some things are worse than jail.

++Either you don't know the definition of terrorism or you share a similar agenda with craig. Or both.++
Sam:
I know all to well what terrorism means, having barely escaped several terrorist attacks while living in Israel.
But there are different types of terrorism, and not just physical.
I have seen and met employees at Agri (now former employees) who were too afraid to look anyone in the eye or speak up. Walking through the plant the body language - eyes averted, shoulders slumped - they reeked of fear. I have seen notices handed out by Agri to employees warning people not to speak to visiting Rabbis or outsiders who might be associated with unions - notices with a drawings of the devil on them, just to be sure that the illiterate employees would get the message.
Were these employees terrorized? You bet they were. They feared for their jobs and worse!
Just after some Agri employees signed on to a class action suit against the company, one of the led plantiff's garage mysteriously burned to the ground!
Talk to the women who were demeaned and terrorized by demands for sex.
Were these people terrorized? You bet your ass they were.
And why did this terrorism take place - so you could eat a cheap shtickel of kosher fliesch. So the next time you sit down to a piece of Rubashkin meat, before you put the first fork full in your mouth think about the pain and suffering that took place. Think, because you can no longer claim ignorance. And if you can still eat, know that you are complicit in perhaps the greatest Chillul Hashem to take place in the kosher world in our lifetime.

Tried to pull up the edweek article but couldn't. Do you have a better address?
Interested to read since I have heard other estimates that well over 10% of the Agri workforce was underage.

Schmarya,
Just to be sure...
There's a new kosher deli in town advertising that "all kosher meat products are from Best's Kosher" - is that a Rubashkin brand? Did that used to be "aaron's best?" I don't want to buy the stuff if it's rubashkin affiliated, obviously.
Posted by: Ahavah | August 28, 2008 at 01:20 PM
Best is not part of the Rubashkin brands.
Posted by: ? | August 28, 2008 at 01:54 PM
Best has other problems including serious concerns that it may be treif and mafia controling interests. After Rabbi Efraim Greenblatt (elderly disciple of Rabbi Moshe Feinstein and author of Rivevus Efraim) saw problems at the plant and the shochtim in Montgomery, Alabama fooling around with non-Jewish women, several poskim said people must kasher their vessels. Rabbi Greenblatt started getting death threats but it seems that mafia didn't want to knock off an old rabbi.

A figure of speech??? In poor taste...
Posted by: Sam | August 29, 2008 at 08:19 AM
The only "poor taste" is that of Rubashkin shills. (Poor taste without the quotation marks is for those fressing on the rotting meat or the ancient crap they pull out of the deep recesses of the Agri freezer)
It says "Kol hamisablim al Yerushalayim zochin veroin besimchasa"
It would behoove anyone to mourn the churban that Rubashkin has created in kashrus, so yes, my figure of speech is very fitting in the case of Sam and his ilk.
