Haredi Spokesperson Disses US Attorney General, Modern Orthodox Jews
Are there 1 million Orthodox Jews in America? Did God punish us with "cyclones, fires and earthquakes" because California voted to allow gay marriage?
Take a look at…
…this short speech given by Rabbi Yehuda Levin in Washington, DC at the National Press Club. Levin, Pat Buchanan's former Jewish liaison who represents Igud HaRabbanim (the Rabbinic Alliance of America) and Agudath HaRabbonim – both failed organizations with few members and even less clout – claims to represent all "1 million" Orthodox Jews in America.
Then listen to what he says in your name.
Pay special attention to what Levin says regarding Modern Orthodox Jews and the US Attorney General at 4:45 into the speech.
Levin is a Gerrer hasid.
[Hat Tip: Pravda Ne'eman, which points out Levin once claimed gay marriage in Israel is "worse than the Holocaust".]
And I thought Christopher Hitchens was the king of showing up looking like he just rolled out of bed.
Christopher, meet Yehuda. Yehuda, meet Christopher.

Interesting that he should quote:
"Thou shalt not turn after your hearts and after your eyes, after which you stray/lust."
I'll take him on his word that he follows this in regard to pornography.
However, it's quite obvious that he ignores this when it comes to food.

To be fair, maybe he takes a medication that has weight gain as a side effect, or something like that.
However, his insulting comments and his sucking up the the Christianuts had me feeling a little less charitable. Kind of the way he was.
If he doesn't have any extenuating circumstances, my comment remains.

Levin is a marginal character. Did he see what Pat has been saying about World War II and Hitler lately? (I actually agree with Buchanan on many issues, but he is an anti-Semite).
Then again, Neuterei Karta has become cozy with Holocaust deniers recently, claiming that "only" a million Jews were killed in the Shoah, and the 6 million figure is Zionist propaganda. NK has attended denial conferences in Tehran with known deniars in attendance.

Rabbi Yehuda Levin says, Mr Bush is a child is raped next door would you do nothing? To make a point about banning pornography
Interestingly, it is the Orthodox and the Church that does nothing when a child is raped, and not only that protects the rapist.
When people like him speak, sadly it is very funny in a sick way.

OMG, this idiot is speaking in my name?!
What a chutzpa he has! Not only wrong-minded about Judaism, but inarticulate and guilty of mangling the English language. He also has no right to misrepresent the Talmud and its teachings, nor to teach it to non-Jews.

According to the Halacha, Non-Jews are alco commanded not to commit acts as part of the Arayos prohibition.

Did you see Shapiro's article in today's Jewish week defending Hagee? I am sure the liberal Jews will have a fit.

According to the Halacha, Non-Jews are also commanded not to commit homosexual acts as part of the Arayos prohibition.

The 1755 Lisbon earthquake, also known as the Great Lisbon Earthquake, was followed by a tsunami and fire, which caused near-total destruction of Lisbon, Portugal and adjoining areas. Geologists today estimate the Lisbon earthquake approached magnitude 9 on the Richter scale. Estimates place the death toll between 60,000 to 100,000 people, making it one of the most destructive earthquakes in history.
The earthquake had wide-ranging effects on the lives of the populace and intelligentsia. The earthquake had struck on an important Catholic holiday and had destroyed almost every important church in the city, causing anxiety and confusion amongst the citizens of a staunch and devout Catholic city and country, which had been a major patron of the Church. Theologians and philosophers would focus and speculate on the religious cause and message, seeing the earthquake as a manifestation of the anger of God. Catholics attempted to explain the disaster as God's wrath, invited by the sinfulness of the people of Portugal and the presence of some Protestants and Jesuits; Protestants blamed the Portuguese for being Catholic, thus being punished by God
The earthquake and its fallout strongly influenced the intelligentsia of the European Age of Enlightenment. The noted writer-philosopher Voltaire used the earthquake in Candide and in his Poème sur le désastre de Lisbonne ("Poem on the Lisbon disaster").
"And can you then impute a sinful deed
To babes who on their mothers' bosoms bleed?
Was then more vice in fallen Lisbon found,
Than Paris, where voluptuous joys abound?
Was less debauchery to London known,
Where opulence luxurious holds the throne?"

Levin is no haredi spokesperson. I don't think there is anyone within the haredi community that takes him seriously.

Moshe
we are to be a light unto the other nations...god never commanded us to engage in politics in order to change the behavior around us, but it should be our behavior that causes others to want to change
levin bases his words and deeds on a tshuva that he will not show anyone
this was a tshuva given to him to deal with one specific event
there isnt one gadol who would say that it is alright to cavort on the wh lawn, wearing a talis and blowing a shofar in support of a christian right to life group
rav moshe never wrote a tshuva that jews should march in lockstep with those that hate
levin is a nutjob in the uniform of the frum person...that is all

I listened to half of it and really couldn't understand much of what he was saying. Maybe it is just me, or what he was saying didn't flow.
Was exteremely boring and un-interesting and of what i could hear sounded like he was making it up as he went along.

To Barry and All
I do think that earthquakes and other natural disasters of Gods wrath against man. And there is a reason the disasters happened where the religious live or where there are churches and or synagogues are.
The evidence to me is very clear, god is telling the the religious people, the churches, synagogues, stop it stop it already. Do not use me or my name for your agendas. I never said that you are holier than others. I never said, Jews cannot eat milk and meat etc. Stop putting word in my mouth, or the next time I get mad it will be worse.
I guess the powers to be, in religion, are to stupid or arrogant to heed gods signs.

More people are killed each year in hunting accidents than by pornogaphy. Judaism does not allow for sport hunting.
Will Levin have the courage to get up in front of these nice Christians and tell them this and call for a ban on hunting?

What's so wrong with his statement about Mukasey?

He loves the limelight!
There is a lot of him on YouTube.
The reality is that while he gets a lot of publicity, he is s spokesman for himself, and no one else.

Shmarya, speaking about protecting children from rape. Did he not have a part in the Mendolowitz scandel? Also what is his position on private schools being forced to be reporters for the courts?
Posted by: Bartley Kulp | June 14, 2008 at 10:46 PM
I'm not aware Levin's involvement in the Mondrowitz case, and I don't know his position of reporting, although I would think it mirrors Agudath Israel's position of opposing mandatory reporting.

G-d is punishing us because California is allowing same sex marriage. Here are a few things are a wrong with that.
• At the time of this claim, no such marriage has yet taken place! G-d would wait until the events actually happened if he were to intervene directly (so we would recognize his signature).
• The events cited have not occurred in California or anywhere near California. They have they not occurred in nor near Massachusetts either. Furthermore, similar events have not happened in Canada or in any of the European countries that are allowing it.
• If you accept this as an explanation for this “natural disaster,” you should not be so selective. You need to retrace all natural disasters throughout history and come up with the reason why G-d was angry at the time and place of the disaster.

as we saw last week, god hates the boy scouts

>as we saw last week, god hates the boy scouts
Because they hate the gays.
/Just being fatuous.
When I was in yeshiva, we had a BT guy, an MIT grad mind you, who said that the all of the animals in the San Francisco zoo were gay because of the local populace. He claimed it was just like then in Noach's time.
/Personally, I would love to live in SF. It's just too expensive for me. I remember being on business trips there and still being able to get kosher food.

15-20 yrs ago this bigot was perennially running for minor political office and was getting votes in the frum community. He may even have been elected to something; I don't remember. I was saying kaddish for my father a"h at the time, and the mara d'atra of the shul, a prominent talmid hakham whose name I won't mention, urged us to vote for Levin.
Talmid Hakham: Vote for the frum guy.
John F. Kennedy: [I hope that no one will] waste his franchise and throw away his vote by voting either for me or against me because of my religious affiliation [he was Catholic and no Catholic had been elected President]. It is not relevant.

Levine bellows proudly that he was the one who stopped the Lipa Schmeltzer concert in New York. A total moreon.
