Haredi Rabbis Order Snack Food Boycott; Neturei Karta Protests Holocaust Remembrance Day

Badatz Yerushalayim has ordered haredim to boycott Osem snacks like Bamba and other foods. Why?

Because Osem, which carries the kosher supervision of Badatz Yerushlayim (alongside Rabbinute supervision and, for American import, OU supervision) has adorned many of its packages with Israel at 60 emblems and the Israeli flag.

Badatz Yerushalayim can't stand for this because Badatz Yerushalayim is anti-Zionist, as Ynet reports:

The Haredi Community, an ultra-Orthodox communal organization which strongly opposes Zionism, declared a consumers' boycott on leading Israeli food brands that have been adorned with the Israeli flag in honor of the country's 60th birthday.

These products include sugar, oil and peanut butter snacks, which are now marketed in special editions with packages that have been redesigned to include the blue and white flag.

In notices distributed across Jerusalem this weekend, the haredi public was urged not to buy any product that carries the flag or any other symbol "that advocates Zionist idolatry."

A source in the community, which numbers some 7,500 households, said: "It is a well-known fact that the Haredy Community opposes Zionism. It is unacceptable for companies that use our kashrut authorization to use this against us and promote these messages among us."…

Meanwhile, Neturei Karta, the uber anti-Zionists of the haredi world, demonstrated in Jerusalem last week against making Holocaust Memorial Day a national holiday:

A demonstration against nationalizing Holocaust Remembrance Day was held in Jerusalem on Thursday by ultra-Orthodox group Neturei Karta. Israel Meir Hirsch, son of Moshe Hirsch, who served as an honorary member of deceased Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat’s cabinet for Jewish Affairs, participated in the event.

According to Hirsch, the demonstration was aimed at "showing that Zionism is the Jewish nation’s true Holocaust. The Jewish nation endured many massacres and murders throughout its 2000 year exile, and the Holocaust, a God-given decree, was of the body and not of the soul,” said Hirsch.

“We can’t comprehend god-given decrees, it is not our business. However, it is clear that the real Holocaust is that Zionism took a nation and assimilated it to the gentile nations in the State of Israel,” he added.

When asked if he views the demonstration as offensive, he said, “this is a sensitive subject to the Israelis, not due to the Holocaust, but because the facts prove and speak for themselves these days.

"Zionists used the Holocaust in order to attain reparations, the Holocaust doesn’t interest them. They use the topic of the Holocaust cynically by exploiting it as a tool with which to establish a country and receive money, but nothing more than that.”

do i have to throw away my osem products i bought before the ban was issued or is it like pesach and can i sell them to a zionist?

R:
As A card carrying Zionist I will agree to buy your Bamba.

Time to stick it to the charedim, again, and buy Osem like crazy. Thank God these crazies find ways to keep me busy.

as far as I an concerned, neturai karta and every other orthodox is the same shit. reasons

1) all subsects in orthodoxy espouse shunning people who don't want to follow interpretations that are a hundred times stricter than the Torah actually requires

2) all subsects in orothodoxy disallows skepticism

3) all subsects in orthodoxy espouses shomer negiah - have a high five with a girl and get sent to hell which as per the Talmud is 60 times hotter than any fire extant in our physical universe.

4) all subsects in orthodoxy (except maybe parts of modern orthodox. maaaaybe) seeks to one extent or another religious coercion in Israel.

NK are like the Westboro Baptist Church in the USA (that celebrates at funerals of American soldiers because of America's tolerance of homosexuality). Send both NK and Westboro to Iran, and let them live as dhimmis, the bastards.

Why don't these people just use the Amman airport when they come and go on? After all, their is an Israeli flag hoisted at the international airport. Also it has a Zionist name, Ben Gurion.

If they use Amman, don't let them cross the Allenby Bridge. Let them stay in Dar el-Islam as dhimmis.

I've had it with everything. As Jewish as I want to be this week is trying to score some vegan blintzes, kugel, etc.. I just cannot get my mind around anything else.

BTW, YL, what do the Zen people believe? Are they a type of Buddhist? Can Sephardic-Male be both a Zen and a Shinto at the same time, I wonder.
See the type of s**t I dwell on.

Time to stick it to the charedim, again, and buy Osem like crazy. Thank God these crazies find ways to keep me busy.

no shmuel, unfortunately you are wrong this time.
these animals coerce the food co's to pay for their hekhshers, therefore when u buy these "offending products" you are contributing to their coffers.
we should instead inform the manufacturers that we boycott any product with edah hareidit hechsher.
our preference should go if we must buy with hechsher, for products with ou, star k or israeli municipal rabbi. products with satmer's crc, or crown heights or eida hareidit in israel, "we should treat like treif", we should neither buy for personal consumption nor even to give away as gift.

Its time for peace
among brothers among Jews
We cant even get along among ourselves and we expect Moshiac any day to come and make things right? Hmmm.....
Time for peace time for all jews to stop fighting among each other and time to start loving accepting one another, and let Hashem do the rest.
any one have any kind thought on that?
peace to everyone

oh yeah like the orthodox are the ones to talk about jewish unity, while they shun everyone who does not want to follow their interpretations which are a hundred times stricter than the Torah actually requires.

for the orthodox to even put the words jewish and unity together in a phrase is hypocracy beyond words.

they shun everyone who does not want to follow their interpretations which are a hundred times stricter than the Torah actually requires.

Thats bad. not right.
So why follow?
Do what Torah, require with out the mediator.
WEre not stupid people

Oh, no!

I just ate some Bamba the other day!

How much time in gehinom is that going to cost me?

According to certain authorities, such as R. Elior Chen, instead of Bamba you can feed the children feces as a tikkun.

This may be a suitable metaphor for everything the current leaders of Badatz are feeding the Jewish community.

Yid: Look at the Wikipedia entry on Zen. I think it is less reliant on statues, deification of Buddha (who is seen as a spiritual role model rather than a diety)and emphasizes meditation, philosophy, and work. It also avoids syncretism with pagan folk religion and their gods, unlike other forms of Buddhism.

Many Jews are into Zen; not all have abandoned Judaism. See: "The Jew in the Lotus."

Many Japanese practise both Zen and Shinto, and see no contraction in having two religions.

Would NK boycott Osem snacks if they carried the PLO flag in honor of "Nakba Day?"

Here is their La Bamba song:

We will boycott la Bamba
We will boycott la Bamba

Viva la terroristas!
Una Neuterei de Karta pa'mí y pa'ti

Oy Aravim v' Islam
Oy Aravim v' Islam por ti seré

Por ti seré
Por ti seré

Yo! No soy on Pesach,
Yo! No soy on Pesach

Oy capitan
Oy capitan
Oy capitan

Bamba, Bamba
Bamba, Bamba
Bamba, Bamba

i think it was the macharena song they should have banned here are the lyrices since many people dont know latino, they wouldnt know what is being sung, but having a look at the lyrics to some of the latino songs is quite discusting and immoral.
after reading this we would think again before we would listen and let our children listen to some of these accepted songs by many. http://www.geocities.com/Paris/2583/macarena.html
