Popular Nahariya Rabbi Arrested For Sexual Abuse

The arrest of a popular Nahariya rabbi for allegedly committing indecent sexual acts was made public Thursday, after a judicial gag order was lifted.

Rabbi Shimon Gerlick serves as rabbi of the Nahariya hospital as well as rabbi of the city's Amidar neighborhood.

Police arrested him three weeks ago after an 8-year-old girl and 30-year-old woman accused him of indecent sexual acts. Police extended the remand of the rabbi twice before putting him under house arrest last week.

A 15-year-old girl came forward and issued a third complaint against the rabbi while he was under arrest, police said.

The 8-year-old, who was escorted to the police station by her family, said that when she was five she visited synagogue where the rabbi took her to a secluded area and sexually abused her.

The 30-year-old, who is married, said the rabbi sexually assaulted her on two separate occasions. Once when she came to him for counseling at the hospital and another time when she met him at a shop in the city. In her testimony she said that in both incidents Gerlick took her hand and placed it on his crotch.

The 15-year-old testified that she met the rabbi near one of the synagogues in town where he committed indecent acts.…

Recently an ex Chabanik Leah Kleim posted pictures of a Shliach masturbating. In her article about the Shliach Leah wrote that he found her on the internet and said he wanted too help her. The help she got was the Shliach masturbating for her. Chabad has scared her into taking down the pictures.

Perhaps all of you who so passionately attack other Yidden want to stop and think about your own actions and whether you are proud of them? I am not wrting this in an arrogant, derisive manner, rather as a suggestion. Another point you may not know about the sory and sad tale of Mendy Kornfeld...he was a successful, kind and hard working Shaliach,but admitteldy he derailed and did some terrible things, his decline started shortly after he and his wife suffered the crushing loss of their 9 month old child, who simply did not wake up one morning ie died of SIDS.
I don't know how many of you are parents and can truly appreciate the devestation that brings and I am not making excuses for his behaviour, but the Lubavitcher Rebbe always told his Chassidim to have the utmost respect and understanding for Holocaust survivors even if they denied Hahem's existense or were offensive towards them, this is because after what they went through, they are far above judegement...

Mendy Kornfeld experienced his own personal Holocaust,a shocking,horrific event that broke him and seemingly sent him over the edge, but we should remember that Pirkei Avos teaches us not to judge one until we are faced with that challenge, may Hashem help Mendy to recover and fix up his life...

Personally, after reading this story, I realize what a glass house the internet is for anyone. I don't enjoy reading any of this accusatory name calling or accusatory self hate whether it is to place blame on a rebbe or this shliach mendy kornfeld. The shliach from my understanding after studying these stories was exhonorated. I read about both of these individuals after wondering if these articles hold any truth. Regardless, I was very intrigued and saddened by this story; however, I find this leah kleim woman to be fighting a personal vendetta. she seems a bit psychologically naked and simply hurtful. Her blogs are offensive and someone obviously hurt her so she wants to hurt others. I don't find hurting someone's reputation like this mendy kornfeld to be reputable nor something entirely matter-of-fact. Putting up images to smear or slander the nature of anyone is so offensive, even if it true. If we all throw stones at each others glass houses, everyone will be walking on glass and it doesn't seem so very responsible to allow passerby to step on this broken glass. I believe in healing the world or tikkun olam as some Jews call it. It starts by cleaning up all the broken glass, but it starts with people like leah kleim to think about the nature of her own inner demons before she bares the nature of others.
