Rabbi Shteinman: "Most" Gentiles "Robbers, Murderers, Theives"
Paul Shaviv has some interesting thoughts about this quote attributed to the haredi yeshiva world's number two 'gadol,' Rabbi Aryeh Leib Shteinman by (the Israeli) Yated Ne'eman:
"Most of the world is evil," said Steinman, "especially the gentiles, most of whom are robbers, murderers, thieves and all the bad things. They have no justice or integrity."
Yes, my friends, God is on our side – with leaders as bad as Rabbi Shteinman, He'd better be.
I used to think you were just a Chabad malcontent.
But now, you've lowered yourself to a new JWB.
Constantly searching the dregs to grab a quotation out of context and rail on the evils of Torah Judaism.
The Herschel Schacter story is old, old news.
Now, you've dug up some quote about Rav Shteinman.
What's next?
Come on. Get a focus and some standards.

It was published in Yated Ne'eman within the last few weeks. What "context" do you believe it is missing?

Also, the Hershal Schachter story was in THIS WEEK's Forward.

Quote from Rabbi Harlan:
"Didn't know I had an FBI kidnapping file. I'm thrilled with that - it's a great zechus.
I didn't know there was an arson file. That would be news to me."

Rabbi Harlan on business ethics:
"I am leasing a commerical copier. My company is closing. Not going bankrupt but closing and corporation is disolving. We are not reopening for business. I want the company to pick up the copier and I don't want to pay a fee. There is NO personal guarantee on the lease. Is there any reason that I should pay anything if I am closing.
The company has no assets."

"Didn't know I had an FBI kidnapping file."
Harlan, they arrested you. Of course you have a file.

Rabbi Harlan's organization's alleged war on the PLO - targeting a restaurant, elderly women and putting firefighters in danger:
In the early hours of April 5, a fire broke out in the Tripoli Restaurant at the corner of Atlantic Avenue and Clinton Street in Brooklyn and quickly spread to the the apartments on the floors above. An elderly resident of the building, Mae Holmes, died in the blaze, and eight other persons, including two firemen, were injured.
Minutes after the first alarm was turned in, a caller claiming to represent the Jewish Defense League telephoned news organizations and asserted that the restaurant was an "undercover headquarters" of the Palestine Liberation Organization. The caller also asserted that the J.D.L., a militant Jewish group, was responsible for the fire.
"It's a rather good restaurant," the Mayor said. "I've eaten there. They are very decent people." The fire, which spread quickly, went to three alarms before being brought under control at 3:47 A.M., about two hours after the blaze was discovered.
A woman found dead on the floor next to her bed on the fourth floor was identified as Mae Holmes, about 70 years old. The Brooklyn Medical Examiner's office said she died of asphyxiation. Another woman, Mildred Opitz, 82, suffering from severe smoke inhalation, was admitted to the intensive care unit of Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn. She was reported in fair condition.
Five other residents and a firefighter were treated at the hospital for smoke inhalation, and another firefighter was treated at the scene.
Minutes after the first alarm was turned in at 1:56 A.M., an anonymous caller claiming to represent the Jewish Defense League telephoned news organizations and said that the militant group was responsible for the fire.
Mr. Hynes, who appeared at the news conference along with Police Commissioner Robert J. McGuire, said the calls claiming that the fire was the work of the Jewish Defense League were received by United Press International at 2:10 A.M. and by The New York Post at 2:25 A.M. He said the caller said that "the Tripoli Restaurant was the undercover headquarters in New York City of the Palestine Liberation Army."

Flattery will get you no where.

Ha! That reminds me of a time in yeshiva were the administration hired some goyishe workers to do some work in the dorm. The workers then proceeded to steal some of my possessions. When I complained, the yeshiva administrator helpfully explained "That's what goyim do."

Wonderful another Gadol makes an idiotic statement which will leald to more anti-semitism. What is the a opposite of a "Gadol" "HaKlein?"

Haaretz is biased. Before you jump, knee-jerk fashion, on the condemnatory bandwagon (as Haaretz wants you to do), find out what R. Steinman really said and the context.

I ordinarily don't post to Orthodox sites as I am not observant but I am saddened that Jews criticize other Jews for making statements that it is said will lead to anti-Semitism without at least sometimes considering attempting to rebut the rancid anti-Zionist hostility to the Jewish state by those who don't need any Gadol to agitate against Jews. Of the two dangers, creeping haradism versus conspiratorial Israel-bashing, I think it is the latter that is the most threatening to all Jews of all denominational affiliations, including secular, including Orthodox.

I can't stand how Jews treat each other. And the mindset. very sneaky and very underhanded. I am aghast at how Jews treat each other. Two temples have been destroyed simply because Jews were mean, on an interpersonal level. My rabbi tried to steal money from me, tried to dupe me into donating more money than I had. Did he give one ounce of care about me? No! Just about his own selfish ends, tricking people, he also made a sexual advance on me, ugly from the core. Its enough to made me walk away. And such religious people, all dressed religious, following every bit of every law to a T, and miserable on an ethical and moral level. I am so disappointed.
