PETA Critiqued
The National Review's Kathryn Jean Lopez ahs written a good critique of the loonier aspects of PETA. Unfortunately, she leaves out any mention of PETA's better projects, especially those related to abused factory-farmed animals.

nothing like one-sided journalism! I'm with you on this one--it just ignores the group's works on such fronts as exposing the horrendous cruelty to animals that is so commonplace on factory farms. a glance at PETA's Web site GoVeg.com doesn't really talk about what you call "the loonier aspects," that's all just to draw people in to what they absolutely need to be getting the message out there about.

Why is it that we needed PETA to investigate and reveal the problems in Postville? Why didn't we stand up at the plate ourselves, rather than have a randomly crazy organization provide us with the shocking truth? The answers are, no doubt, related to how lame the Orthodox rabbinic response was to the problems: "Problems? What problems? I don't see no stinkin problems!"
