Not much to argue with in this article from Arutz 7. Rabbi Kahane's murder was the first act of jihad on American soil.

It's time we get past his awful--if low-level--followers, and focus on this interesting man himself from a historical perspective, not just a communal one.

He did see something that most did not, and merely calling him "racist" does not eliminate his accuracy.

It is time to consider him from other angles.

would it cross your mind to analyse henry ford from his "interesting aspects " ?

Should I not study Henry Ford because he was anti-Semetic? I don't understand what you are suggesting.

And do you really need the difference explained to you? Henry Ford was a capitalist -- his politics and paranoid theories were hardly vindicated within a few years of his assassination by the most radical of his enemies who feared he might be a threat to their goals of destruction.

Kahane had many accomplishments, which incuded, prior to his Zionist phase, mobilizing the Jewish community for Soviet Jewry, and before that, mobilizing Orthodox Jewry to fight against Lindsay's attempt to turn middle outer-borrough Jewish neighborhoods into slums, as well as his notorious though moderately successful organization of his vigilante groups.

Additionally of interest was his troubled relatonship with the Ultra-Orthodox world who condemned him but also openly envied his successes.

As someone interested in Jewish History, how would I not find him an interesting figure?

Rabbi Meir Kahane, ZTK'L was not a racist. He was a man who was committed to the holy teachings of the Torah. All of his "political" views were based on sources from the Torah and Talmud. He was a purveyor of the truth. He had the courage and resilience to absorb all the slings and arrows that came his way. He championed causes of Jewish survival when no one else had the intestinal fortitude to take them on. He was the catalyst and vanguard of the movement to free Soviet Jews from behind the Iron Curtain and his bold actions paved the way for the ultimate freedom of immigration for Soviet Jews. He battled the evil forces of assimilation, intermarriage and alienation. Concerning the demographic issue of the burgeoning Arab population in Israel, all of his predictions have come true. Rabbi Kahane never hated Arabs. Quite to the contrary, he respected them and that's why he advoacted their transfer from israel. Above all, he loved Jews and his first priority was Jewish causes and he was a passionate and compassionate man, who genuinely felt the pain of another Jew and had the courage to act on it. He was a loyal servant of the Almighty G-d of Israel and he was a renowned Torah teacher. His shiurim (lessons) on halachic issues were quite prolific. He was a gifted orator and writer who had the power to move people to achieve greatness and to become close to Hashem and His Torah. He was Moser Nefesh for Klall Yisroel. May his memory be for a blessing and may his holy soul be bound for eternal life.
