Right Wing Fruitcakes On Parade

Ynet reports on the "Pulsa Dinura" (psuedo-kabbalistic death incantation ceremony) performed against Prime Minister Sharon last night by a group of right wing fruitcakes:

Right-wing activists claim they had held a ‘Pulsa Dinura’ (curse) that called for the prime minister’s demise 10 years after they had put the same curse on slain Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin…

Some 20 right-wing activists participated in the ceremony which took place at the ancient cemetery in Rosh Pina. According to the participants, the ceremony was authorized by rabbis.

Michael_benhorin“It was a call for the angels of destruction to kill Arik Sharon,” Michael Ben-Horin, who participated in the ceremony, told Ynet.

“The ceremony was intended for the angels of destruction, not for humans, as it would be futile for people to attempt it (assassinating Sharon) amid all the prime minister’s security.” …

Rabbi [Yosef] Dayan [of the West Bank settlement of Pesagot] offered translated excerpts of the ceremony, which was conducted mostly in Aramaic:

“We have permission to ask the higher beings to send angels of destruction to hurt Ariel Ben-Dvora Sheinerman, or Ariel Sharon.”

The rabbi said some two hours prior to the ceremony questions were raised regarding Sharon’s religion, as the ceremony may be conducted only against people who are Jewish according to the halacha.

“The kabbalist rabbis told us not to do it, but eventually we decided to perform the ceremony, as in any case Sharon is considered by the public to be Jewish,” he said.…

Michael Ben-Horin said, “The call was for angels of destruction to kill Sharon. Hitler and Stalin combined were guarded by 10 percent of the security force that protects Sharon, so it would be futile to have mortals attempt it (assassination).”…

Attorney Baruch Ben-Yosef, who was also on hand for the ceremony, told Ynet, “We read the Pulsa Dinura prayer to the lord would take the murderous dictator who is murdering the people of Israel.”…

Ben-Yosef added, “We hope the lord hears us and saves the people of Israel the bloody civil war Sharon is bringing upon us.”…

These fruitcakes and their even fruitier "kabbalistic" rabbis have doubts about Sharon's Jewishness?!? Look in the mirror, morons.

What does this article have to do with anything?

Aside from the obvious questions about putting a death curse on someone in 2005, and all of the appeals to civil discourse and ahavas yisroel and whatever, if someone has this awesome power, why do/did some of the the most polarizing figures in Jewish history remain alive. Why did Begin fight with Ben Gurion? Couldn't they muster a good curse in those days? What about Jewish conversos and heretics over the years that threatened Jewish communities. This all assuming that the magic only works on Jews. If it works on goyim, then why did Hitler live long enough to do damage, Stalin (why didn't the CR curse him sooner?), Chielminiki, Alexander Romanov, etc. Why all the exciting suspenseful Chasidic stories. Pulsa D'Nura!

This evening, I will attempt to convince my minyan to daven against the Pulsa D'Nura and for Chayim Tovim Aruchim for the PM. It'll be like an ethereal confidence vote!

Shabak ploy. Not newsworthy.

Again: What does this have to do with anything?

Shmarya, speaking about looking in the mirror, why don't you take a look at the one in your own bathroom.

Are you left wing or anti religious? You're pro giving away land? Treachery.

Moishe

Are saying that it is leftist or anti-religious to be anti-assassination or anti-death curse? Remember, there is no I in TEAM, but there are two asses in assassination. Is it leftist to ridicule the Death Curse? Is it leftist or anti-religious not to approve of the sentiment that a death curse would be a good thing?

When did it become "religious" to pursue bravado and zealotry in politics?

There are some things which irrational in life and require an irrational response. This is one of them.

The fact that Israel is our land goes beyond religion. The idea that someone is actually giving what is ours away is foreign.

Your "irrational response" defense could as easily be used to defend suicide bombing. You may not agree with Sharon, but he is authorized to act as an agent of the Jewish people in the matter of the worthless little parcel of Chutz LaAretz known as Gaza. I hope he does not deal it away for magic beans, but he has the right and responsibility to act. It's something that you and your Taliban minyans will never understand. It is called democracy and the rule of law.

God, you're an ignoramus, rebeljew. The Gaza strip is by no means Chutz LaAretz. The Negev is. The northeast Sinai isn't; nor is Lebanon. So your point is irrelevent.

"Authorized to act?" He ran for office on the exact opposite platform. His opponents ran on this platform. He won overwhelmingly. He then changed his mind and fired any minister who disagreed with him (sort of illegal under the Israeli system).

Learn some of those things call "facts" before you start insulting.

'aza by no means Chuts LaArets? Then why is no shmita required?

All giving away land is doing is rewarding terrorism. Palestinian !@#%@#$%s murder people. "Geev us laand o' we'll doo moor teroreezm," is their claim. By giving away land, all we are doing is saying, "It is good to murder us, because by doing so, we are forced to give you land."

Nice example of racist 'bad english with foreign accent', "I Love Hashem" (what a stupid, pretentious screen name), but the point is that these curses function as ad hoc rabbinical justification for blowing a hole in the disliked head of state. How does that sit with "the only democracy in the mid-east"?

"How does that sit with "the only democracy in the mid-east"? "
Good question ! It really does not . When you corner one of them -who claim to love hashem- in anash environment (when they are uninhibited and express themselves freely -among their own)
they will tell you that democracy is really not meant for us and that the Torah System (theirs that is) is the real way to conduct matters of state !
The bit about "the only democracy in the mid-east" is designed to be used only when they talk to the uninitiated , from the other side of their mouth !
One can see the anash talk in all it's glory in their Hebrew websites , when no care is taken to camouflage their positions !

I basicly agree with ILH that th slippery slope of giving in to terrorism is ill advised. But Sharon is not the culprit, and the mentality of "if we don't like a head of state, we'll just shoot him" seems a little, well, like the very sentiment that ILH is condemning in the Palestinians.

Look at the RW in ISrael. Peres was dangerous so they supported Netanyahu, to save the country. Then they threatened him, after Wye. Then they thought Barak was bad, so they supported Sharon, to save the country. He got rid of the daily bombings and acclimated the world to the need to control the Arab terrorists. Yet, teh minute the fat is back on the fire, they want, not just to depose him, but to kill him. They will tell you Sharon is the worst PM ever.

The conclusion is obvious. We want the toughest negotiators and most realistic leaders. But, if they don't come home with 100% of the pie, we will turn on them in a heartbeat. It is the same "3 no's of Khartoum" attitude that they condemned in the Arabs. They have Sadat, and we have ...

Neo-Conservaguy, shmita isn't required (maybe) because the returnees from Bavel didn't settle that land. They didn't settle a lot of Eretz Yisrael. No one argues that Aza is part of the Land, though.

Note the "maybe"- lots of Gaza produce is grown hydroponically, and so shmita etc. doesn't apply. I don't know what would happen to ground crops.

Nachum

It seems soeone emphatically disagrees with you.

"God, you're an ignoramus, rebeljew. The Gaza strip is by no means Chutz LaAretz."
nachum 1 above

"No one argues that Aza is part of the Land, though."
nachum 2, that's you

Plugta Nachum a nachum?
