Temple Grandin Resigns From KFC's Animal Welfare Board
Dr. Temple Grandin (see links on the left of this page) has resigned from Kentucky Fried Chicken's animal welfare advisory board. KFC sought to limit her contact with the press. Dr. Grandin refused to be silenced. KFC – which has a terrible animal welfare record – seems to be trying to avoid implimenting the reforms it promised.
So how bad is KFC?
KFC has been criticized by animal rights activists, who claim the chain has not done enough to make sure the chickens it uses are cared for and slaughtered humanely.
Last year, the issue reached a boiling point when a video made public by animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) showed workers at a West Virginia chicken processing plant that supplies KFC ripping off birds' beaks, spitting tobacco into their mouths and eyes, and stomping and kicking them.
Way too honest for the meat business, Dr. Grandin refused to aid KFC's cover up. Try to name one rabbi who stood up to Rubashkin, et al, in the same way.
Can't do it, can you?

Dr Grandin: "Shove this check down your (expletive deleated )throat you bunch of(explitives deleated)"
Usual rabbis: "Brocha ha shem the check is here"

Well, she "read" Chulin -- so that makes her an expert.

'Well, she "read" Chulin -- so that makes her an expert.'
Nah, just all that boring on the job experience watching the sloppy work of those folks with the daily daf a little too much on their mind. But hey, what can she know without one of those cool Jewish neshama thingies; she's only working with an animal soul, poor woman.
But if you really enjoy Chulin, and need her to design a slaugher pen for these, perhaps she would do it if you asked nicely enough:

I'll pass, and stick to the fruit plate, thanks.

"she's only working with an animal soul, poor woman."
In your religion, perhaps.

That would have been a cute comment if I was a Chassid; I'm not, and the line about her lacking an "animal soul" was meant to be darkly humorous.
Temple Grandin has the beytzim most rabbi's - and Jews, for that matter - can only wish they had. She rulz!

>about her lacking an "animal soul"
Lacking an animal soul? Is that what you meant?

>That would have been a cute comment if I was a Chassid
Huh? Temple Grandin having an "animal soul" is Chassidic thought?

"Huh? Temple Grandin having an "animal soul" is Chassidic thought?"
Yes. Here is a summary of this idea:
"The Zohar distinguishes between an animal soul and a Divine soul. Divine souls are made of a special Divine substance and there is a limited amount. Soul material is what sustains spiritual beings, Jews, and is constantly recycled to ensure that such human beings are helped to elevate their bodies. There is some disagreement in mystical circles as to whether only Jews have such souls or whether other spiritual people do, too."
"Lubavitch, for example, drawing on Zohar sources, believes only Jews do and any convert must have received his or her soul from an earlier Jewish source (this is an opinion that does not make sense to my limited mental or spiritual capacities)."

Dear Neo-Conservative
There is this ' odd ' ' rabbi ' in the Minneapolis area that wrote a book on why there are many converts now. Something about all the Jews that lost their life during the Holocaust I think it is called "From Ashes to Ashes"
Something about souls being recycled.
OK
Now I say what about all those Krauts that lost their lives during the bombing raids? There were some German cities that were FRIED to a crisp because of fire bombing. How about the 200,000 soldiers of the sixth army that never came back from Stalingrad? Then the Russians dead something like 30 million. (Stalin would not admit above 20 million)
Maybe you get the idea.
Of course I could make a sacastic comment that would send people howling

Isa, are you mistaking my beliefs for the Jewish Mystical beliefs? My beliefs are rather different; I was answering your question about the concept of different types of souls as codified in the Zohar and further developed in later commentaries by Chassidic rebbes.
I have a simpler view: one life, one chance, don't screw it up.

Dear Neo Conservative
I too share your view
One life, one chance
but to those people that believe in ' reincarnation '
I can sacastically point to an evil Jew and say maybe he was a nazi in his past life and then I get to listen to much howling.
