Rise Of Orthodox Fundamentalism

Da'as Hedyot has a great post on history of the rise of Orthodox fundamentalism in light of the banning of Rabbi Slifkin's books.

These stringencies just to be strict have always been there; blind conformity so that you may keep up with the Bernsteins, and your children has some remote shot at marrying theirs.

The study over work phenomena has been there for decades, especially in Israel. The drive against non-conformists has been there just as long at least. The anti-evolution idea, well I was surprised when i first realized that was the majority frum view but that was long enough ago.

What, certain voices now are being drowned out? Well, I got news for you ... frum voices have been drowned out for years, especially (but certainly not exclusively the more right you go.
