PETA Responds To Rabbi Dr. Levinger
Bruce Friedrich of PETA has the following comment on Rabbi Dr. Levinger's visit to Postville:
The fact that Levinger watched them do it correctly strengthens our case, really: I would bet that none of these animals showed the signs of consciousness that we documented in 1/4 of the animals during our sample. The challenge to Rubashkin is to find someone to say that what we documented is not a problem.
This nonsense is like a serial killer calling you over to his house to watch him not kill people: "See, I'm not killing anyone." Of course they CAN do it right – our point is that they can do it right but didn't – that's why what they did was illegal. A criminal can be law-abiding, but that doesn't exonerate them for their crimes.
It being done right for Rabbi Dr. Levinger neither strengthens nor weakens PETA's case. It was done right many times in the video as well; nor does it being done right mean it will be done right every time (or make those done wrong neccessarily criminal).
